There is a story breaking that he shut down negotiations with a legendary group that's in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame because they wouldn't drop their fee under 1 million dollars. Wonder who it is?

"We were going to have Rolling Stones/Beatles/Eagles/Fleetwood Mac but we decided to give the money to charity instead. It wasn't that no one wanted anything to do with us. Trust us"
Yeah right!

Beatles? Really? Is there a time machine involved? Perhaps a seance?

Maybe it fell through because they wanted to give Ringo less?

The fact that this "inside source" isn't naming the band seems pretty fishy to me.
It looks like this story came out via TMZ. Now, let's be clear, TMZ is awful by so many measures. But they're actually usually right. So typically I'd say this story is probably true.
But what TMZ usually *would* have on a story like this is the actual name of the band.
To *not* name the band and also imply it was a noble gesture on Trump's part to give a bunch of money to charity reeks of taking a bad story (nobody wants to play for Trump) and spinning it into a positive (Trump *could have* gotten a big band, but instead the money goes to charity).
The whole thing smells rotten, and if it is true, I would guess it's not the Beach Boys. I doubt Mike would ask for or need $1 million, and if he had been turned down and directly rejected by Trump, I don't think he'd be doing this pseudo-inauguration Texas gig instead.

Ditto for The Eagles--they have been pretty clear that they are finished now that Frey is gone. Sounds like a fantasy to me. But who knows?

I think in Trumps eyes, Paul McCartney ='Beatles', Don Henley ='Eagles'.
Incidentally, I read something the other day suggesting record labels could be somehow stopping there artists from appearing as it could effect long term sales. Sounds feasible but I wonder if they have that much clout?

He's not going to get either of those guys; both are lefties. And neither is in any need of money.

Of course not. However toss names amongst planners and "we were going to have...." is factual. The fact that artists were not even approached in person is but a detail.

For the sake of clarity: the only source of "Beatles/Eagles" etc. being mentioned was Heywood's sarcastic paraphrase of the news item. "Beatles" (or any of those bands) weren't mentioned in the piece from TMZ or anywhere else outside of this discussion thread.
