She was one of the few remaining of the Hollywood golden age.  I feel so awful for that family.  I can't imagine what they're going through.  Embarrassed

I remember when Gene Kelly died. Second time I ever shed a tear for a celebrity. Carrie and Debbie are the fourth.

This song is my main memory of Debbie:

May she and her daughter rest in peace.

Thanks, Billy, for launching this new section with its greater sense of respect (and for modifying the title of that other one).

Debbie is such fun & a sweet creature. Like with many others, I discovered her via the 50s CBS game "What's My Line?". Mystery guest 4 times, this is my favorite where she changes accents to mask her voice (who doesn't know, the panelists sit blindfolded but they can recognize voice of celebrity so they do funny tricks to cover it):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAXVdVID7zM  (1964 ep, among the panelists young Woody Allen)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRO4BYZ6cqE (1956, Debbie's 24, with newlywed Eddie Fisher)

& here's recent (2013) showing at Craig Ferguson, launching her book: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8m81-14OF6E

I guess the one thing to take away from this is that now they are together again.

You're welcome.

I intended this section so we could talk about our favorite non-music forms of entertainment, but eventually I'll create an in-memoriam subsection.

I think an "In Memoriam" subforum is actually a really good idea.

Yeah, I'm going to do it at some point....I'm going to have to track down all of the RIP threads and move them there, including Scott's thread. Been dreading that actually.

Scott B? That's another area entirely, surely? I'm not the boss (much to everyone's relief) but I'd be inclined to leave it where it was.

Smilin Ed H did a whole bunch of RIPs in his day. After that it was anybody's call...

No, Scott Weiland.

Yes, of course. Stupid of me. Really sorry about that.

I think Bowie's death affected me the most, not least because I'd followed his career since 1966 and even seen him perform.

I've never "got" Prince but his death came as an awful shock too.

My apologies again.

No worries.

When Bowie died, I thought about Scott *immediately* as that was his idol.

Yeah, he released his first solo single in 1967, and his voice was very sped up.
