I don't like "Eight Days A week" & "I'm A Loser". I'll go with

"I'm A Loser"

"What You're Doing" is the best song imo.

"Baby's in Black" is clearly the best song here.

"Baby's in Black" is clearly the best song here.

Bubbly,  You know more than I think you know.  "I'm A Loser" is indeed the weakest of the hat trick songs, and "Baby's in Black" is the best.
Those observations tell me you know more than you let on about this little group.

Even though it looks like "What You're Doing" is on the ropes, I'll pick "I'm A Loser" and see what happens.  We would have
to get some more help.  Where's Rick?  Does undercover-m listen to the group?  I'm surprised we don't have more Beatles fans
joining in.  Maybe their popularity is waning at last.  Or at least it is at Smiley.

Welcome back to the fight to survive!

The MANIA continues!!!!

Quote
Beatles for Sale is the fourth studio album by the English rock band the Beatles, released on 4 December 1964 in the United Kingdom and produced by George Martin for Parlophone. The album marked a minor turning point in the evolution of the Lennon–McCartney partnership, John Lennon particularly now showing interest in composing songs of a more autobiographical nature. "I'm a Loser" shows Lennon for the first time coming under the influence of Bob Dylan, whom he met in New York while on tour, on 28 August 1964.

Beatles for Sale did not produce a single for the UK – the non-album tracks "I Feel Fine" and "She's a Woman" performed that role. Nevertheless, that coupling was followed up in the United States by "Eight Days a Week", which became their seventh number one in March 1965. In Australia, the only-ever non-original Beatles single (either side) went to Number One: Chuck Berry's "Rock and Roll Music" backed with Carl Perkins' "Honey, Don't", which held the summit for four weeks.

The album hit the UK number one spot and retained that position for 11 of the 46 weeks that it spent in the Top 20. Beatles for Sale did not surface as a regular album in the US until 1987. In its place was Beatles '65 which featured eight songs from Beatles for Sale, plus the A and B-side of "I Feel Fine" and "I'll Be Back" from the UK's A Hard Day's Night album. Beatles '65 enjoyed a nine-week run at the top of the US charts from January 1965.

Finally. An easy round with a clear winner. (10 votes)

7 smilers are no longer worried about What You Did.

Per the usual, vote for your LEAST FAVORITE TRACK!!!

Vote tally will be on January 28.

Eight Days A Week

Round#1 Mr. Moonlight December 30
Round#2 Honey Don't January 2
Round#3 Kansas City/Hey, Hey, Hey! January 5
Round#4 Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby January 8
Round#5 Words of Love January 11
Round#6 I Don't Want To Spoil The Party January 14
Round#7 Rock and Roll Music January 16
Round#8 Every Little Thing January 19
Round#9 I'll Follow The Sun January 22
Round#10 What You're Doing January 25

Who am I going to vote off... Which of the songs left does not deserve to be in the top three? This is a tough one.

I think I'll have to vote off Baby's In Black. I love the song. I love the tight Lennon/Macca harmonies. But in the end, I think (of the remaining three) it has the least interesting backing track.

Oh dear what can you do?

VOTE!!!

While it's probably the most popular out of the final four from the Fab Four from Beatles For Sale, I'm doubling four to equal eight =

Tough call. It's got that great Beatles sound and a memorable title, but I always found the other three more interesting...

I could swear I had a CD of this album but I just looked for it but can't find it anywhere.
OK, I looked and looked and could not find the CD of this album I thought I had. I did have a cassette version, which I haven't listened to in a very long time (like, probably 15 years or more) and I think it was the American version. So today I went out and bought it and listened to it in my car a couple times.

First of all, the first 3 songs on this album are as good as any 3 consecutive songs on any Beatles album. In fact, Baby's in Black makes me cry. Sad It's got this certain happy/sad quality to it that hits me right ->there<-

A couple of the so-so original songs I thought could have been better had they worked on them a little more. They had potential, but weren't quite there.

And the covers, even though generally well-done, left me with the feeling I was missing out on something. Didn't really want to hear them do somebody else's stuff when their own, original stuff was on the verge of blossoming.

I think this might be the most "rock 'n roll"-y of all their albums - helped by the covers, I might add.

George's guitar solos on several of the songs sounded a bit sloppy (notably Baby's in Black). Not a big deal though, I guess he was still perfecting his technique.

it's quite strange reviewing the songs again for these battles, and trying to pick the
weak songs when they are so gosh darn good! Especially now, with these albums
from here on in being the 'grails'.

For me, for the most part, it's easy to choose the worst song on the Beatles albums and the best one. It's everything in between that's hard.
