Welcome back to the fight to survive!
The MANIA continues!!!!
Quote
Beatles for Sale is the fourth studio album by the English rock band the Beatles, released on 4 December 1964 in the United Kingdom and produced by George Martin for Parlophone. The album marked a minor turning point in the evolution of the Lennon–McCartney partnership, John Lennon particularly now showing interest in composing songs of a more autobiographical nature. "I'm a Loser" shows Lennon for the first time coming under the influence of Bob Dylan, whom he met in New York while on tour, on 28 August 1964.
Beatles for Sale did not produce a single for the UK – the non-album tracks "I Feel Fine" and "She's a Woman" performed that role. Nevertheless, that coupling was followed up in the United States by "Eight Days a Week", which became their seventh number one in March 1965. In Australia, the only-ever non-original Beatles single (either side) went to Number One: Chuck Berry's "Rock and Roll Music" backed with Carl Perkins' "Honey, Don't", which held the summit for four weeks.
The album hit the UK number one spot and retained that position for 11 of the 46 weeks that it spent in the Top 20. Beatles for Sale did not surface as a regular album in the US until 1987. In its place was Beatles '65 which featured eight songs from Beatles for Sale, plus the A and B-side of "I Feel Fine" and "I'll Be Back" from the UK's A Hard Day's Night album. Beatles '65 enjoyed a nine-week run at the top of the US charts from January 1965.
Per the usual, vote for your LEAST FAVORITE TRACK!!!
Vote tally will be on December 30.

A cover. A cover of a song that wasn't that great to begin with.
A cover where Paul's voice isn't up to the task.

I hate "Mr. Moonlight" - not for the shout but it doesn't exclude but it's the least I wish to hear.

Lots of weak tracks on this album, not sure where to start. I'll go with Mr Moonlight.

To me it's their second weakest album (Let it Be is by far the worst despite having a few good songs)

For me it's mixed. A lot of clunkers but 3 or 4 are among my favorites.
Edit: well, two anyway.

"Kansas City/Hey Hey Hey!"
is a good enough place to start.
A very good album, they were a bit too busy dealing with the fans to make time for a great album.

I feel like Beatles For Sale was a critical point for the Beatles where they were trying to figure out how they wanted to go forward and what they should leave behind. It's a transition point.

It hearkens back to their dance hall days. I amk pretty sure that was why it was included. At this point they were scraping the bottom of the barrel trying to come up with material. Paul's songs were all written when he was a teenager. John is the only one who brought new stuff to the table on this album.

With songs like "No Reply", "I'm A Loser", "Baby's In Black", "What You're Doing", and "Every Little Thiing", I've always though that Beatles For Sale was one of their first truly
great
albums. I agree that some of the covers aren't really necessary though.

2 John songs. 1 Paul. and 1 true Lennon/McCartney number.

Paul's written "Every little thing" & "What You're Doing". John sings his song.

Every Little Things is a true Lennon/Macca song*. They both wrote it. They both sing it. Paul mostly wrote What You're Doing and Paul mostly sings it.
*Lennon was dismissive of the composition because he didn't particularly care for the song. He said he "threw something in", But with some analysis it's obvious he wrote the chorus.

There must be real evidence that John's written the chorus. I read elsewhere that Paul is the sole songwriter of ELT. By saying John sings it I meant his vocal is best featured.

On which song specifically? Because WYD is almost entirely Paul's vocal.

I said that John sings his song, i.e. Paul's "Every Little Thing". To which you said that they both sing it. Technically yes but I meant by saying John sings it that his voice is best featured. So it counts like John vocal.

At any rate, it's a Paul song & no factual evidence that they both had written it. I don't think Paul would take John's chorus credit. It isn't among popular Beatles songs anyway.
