And now for some inappropriate Beach Boys music just in time for the Holidays. Please check out the newest video in my Smile slideshow project ‘Do You Like Worms?' (Roll Over Ben Franklin). Since this Thursday is Thanksgiving Day for all us Americans, it seemed like it would be a good time to release this video for the song that so fondly recalls our country’s humble beginnings at Plymouth Rock. It’s a pretty complete remake of my earlier try at the song back in 2013. What a long strange Americana Trip it’s been! I hope you like the video. Happy Thanksgiving!

Nicely done indeed, although the historical pedant in me shifts uncomfortably in my chair at "British discovery of Australia - 1770".

Thanks! Not  really a history buff myself, but I tried my best. What would you change? With some cursory reading, my understanding of things is that the world was aware of this land mass in the South Pacific for a long time  through exploration by countries other than England. It wasn't until Capt. Cook was assigned by England to find and map the mysterious land mass that it was clearly defined as the Australia we know today. It wasn't my intention to say that England was the first country to discover any of Australia, although I see how it could be interpreted that way. I can only use a very limited number of words obviously.

Thanks for your reply. I'd go with "Cook claims Australia for Britain", if it will fit.

That was awesome.  What is that part with the high harmonies around the 1:45 mark?  Never heard that section before.

Thanks! I don't know where that vocal part comes from. That section was done by a fan mixer name seltaeb. I just added the timpani. I think he might still post here or that other place.

Love the experimentation with Holidays. Holidays itself is a very peculiar piece. The lyrics sing about Hawaii, and DYLW Part 2 sings about arriving at Hawaii and taking it from the natives. Holidays offers us a clean version of the annexation of Hawaii while DYLW offers the darker side. The two pieces pose a relation in theme and they fit together well musically.

The only question I have is if the Roll Plymouth Rock lyrics in Holidays are vintage. Everyone talks about the piano demo Brian plays during the holidays session. He does sing lyrics but he just uses them as syllables to get his musical points across to the musicians. I have worked on isolating the lyrics he sings and he doesn't really enunciate anything about Indians (he mumbles a bit). He does however very clearly mention a town. To me, the most interesting part about that tidbit is WHEN he sings the melody. He sings that melody line during the part that he sings "Rock, Rock, Roll..." today.

Btw, I absolutely ADORE you're He Gives Speeches video! It's so creative and it perfectly captures the southern jazz vibe in HGS! The song is 1000x more fun to listen to with the lyrics popping up like a sing-a-long.
