I'm one of probably many who were overly influenced by the media focus on her excesses (a bit like Pete Docherty) and shied away from her music. I even made patronizing remarks about her on this forum (well, we all do things we're later ashamed of).

Back to Black. I love this album. If there has to be a stand-out track for me it's "Tears Dry On Their Own". The chorus is one of the saddest things I've ever heard; the music is majestic. I think the connection with the optimistic Marvin Gaye--Tammi Terrell song only makes it more poignant.
