His voice is rather quiet compared to other interviews.

This is the most relaxed Brian has been at an interview. Smiley I knew Good Vibrations was written while he was on Uppers, California Girls of course LSD and the one I didn't know, Help Me, Rhonda. Well he does ask Loren Schwartz to turn him on during the first vocal sessions. I'm guessing Marijuana?

I think Brian  is 100% wrong when he says he would not have been a genius without the drugs.

Quiet interview, mostly the same, tired questions. Brian's truncated responses help bring the process to a close for him. Can't say I blame him at all for not liking interviews.

I think it's bizarre when people ask BW about "the voices". Is that really the most interesting thing to ask the man who made Pet Sounds?

Yeah, it's like interviewing Beethoven and concentrating on his deafness.
Ah, and I don't believe for a minute that Brian really believes that no drugs = no genius. That was one of his put-on answers when he's slightly annoyed at the interviewer.

wow I just watched the video and a couple things stuck out to me...He talks like he did back in the 60's!!! He's laid back,he's speaking full sentences and not actually fragmenting them, it's almost like the Brian of the 1960's...I even see the younger Brian in his eyes and face as he speaks, I think we have the old Brian back!!!!! In fact that was my thoughts as I read his book...It seems he has "Transformed" back to how he was in his youth before the drugs and the mental breakdown!!

Good point. Brian wasn't necessarily at ease in this interview. Yet he still manages to seem engaged.

I noticed that too. I also noticed that it was generally one continuous shot...in a lot of interviews, there are noticeable edits. Not so with this one.

I think being interviewed by a woman makes a difference with Brian too. I know there's a lot of things I'm more comfortable with if the other person is a woman. Like I'm much more at ease with female Doctors and managers/supervisors at work. Of course that's not ab absolute, but it does make a difference to some people, and I think it might for Brian.

I'd like better a cartoon version of this (it would be more in line with Ludwig Van's personality, too):
INTERVIEWER: So Ludwig, the whole deafness thing must be really tough for you. How do you deal with that?
BEETHOVEN: <Throws piano at interviewer>
