This video is one of my all-time favorite BB videos to watch:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjB9u85WSmo

A few questions:

- Does anyone know what TV show (and the date of recording/broadcast) this was from?

- Does a full, uncut version of this video exist? I've seen multiple uploads of this video over the years, and it frustratingly always fades out/cuts just before the bridge.

- This seems to be the studio backing track with a newly-recorded (yet still pre-recorded for broadcast) mimed lead vocal by Brian. Brian's lead doesn't sound exactly like the studio version lead vocal to my ears. Does anyone think otherwise? And I'm guessing The Boys' backing vocals were all from the original studio version (and not newly pre-recorded for broadcast)?

- Is this the only time that Brian sang this song back in this era on a TV show? Regardless, it's probably the only existing version I'm guessing.

Thanks, Pretty Funky! Oh how I wish that a full version would surface. I'm thinking that either they played only a truncated version of the song, or that a longer version perhaps just doesn't exist? I hope to be proven wrong though.

This song is Mike's finest hour as a lyricist, IMO. Not sure there is a better BB song in the entire catalog.

I think it was done as part of a medley.

didn't they do fun fun fun as a part of that? which is performed completely live?
yet PML is sung and played to the track. is that right? are they doubling their parts live to the studio recording?
they guys are obviously all 'plugged in', so it's not a straight mime gig.
Brian sounds double tracked (one recorded, one live?)

yep - Shindig April 21 1965--The Beach Boys - "Do You Wanna Dance" (opening song), "Fun Fun Fun," "Long Tall Texan," "Please Let Me Wonder," "Help Me Rhonda" and "Their Hearts Were Full of Spring"

You can find most of these song performances on youtube. I'm pretty sure I've seen Please Let Me Wonder/Help Me Rhonda together in one video, but I can't find it now.

When the "Live in Chicago" album came out I took PLMW from the March 27th show and synced it up to this video.  The intro is cut in half and the tempo of the audio needed some adjusting, but it was cool to watch this video accompanied with live show audio as opposed to the audio on the video.

As others have mentioned, it was part of a medley, so what's there is all that's there. I believe part of the "Help Me Rhonda" portion of the medley from this show was seen in the "Endless Harmony" documentary.

It looks like they only have kinescopes available for this performance; I'm curious if the original videotape still exists somewhere as it would look *a lot* better. The Beatles' late 1964 performance on "Shindig", their only in-person appearance on the show, only seemed to exist for years via a kinescope (even the "Beatles Anthology" used the kinescope), but the actual videotape source does "circulate" among collectors.

I'd go with "The Warmth of the Sun" as Mike's best, but that's kind of splitting hairs.
