Not sure what this is about?  It's a trailer for a larger project...?  Or just a short video commemorating the anniversary?

Plenty of video clips from the C50 Hollywood Bowl show in there--they do exist.

Noven Jaisi is Mike's video guy, and the fonts and everything all pertain to Mike's tour merch.

At first viewing, I also thought the same.  In fact, I thought this was a trailer for the 2012 concert project.  But on closer inspection it appears that all the 2012 footage in the trailer comes from the Grammy performance and the Phoenix show which turned out to be the official DVD/BR.  Looked like they used outtakes and alternate shots here from that show.  So, sadly, no Hollywood Bowl footage.  Sure hope we see that one day though.

It would be strange if this was tied in to Mike's book or his own latest activities.  This seems to be a "Beach Boys" project, Noven probably is the lead video guy for the band and probably works on Mike's side projects too (or vice versa).

There are some new/never before seen interviews in there of Al and Blondie so that suggests that this is a wider project.

This trailer is just like the other ones made by Jaisi. Mike mentioned in an interview awhile back that Jaisi is a guy he came across. Jaisi's "trailers" seem to usually not be in reference to any particular product or project; they just have generic/vague titles (e.g. another one was called "Still Tourin'", etc.). Also, like most of his work, it mostly uses "Endless Harmony" footage with a little bit of other stuff mixed in. Also, like his other stuff, the description only includes links to thebeachboys.com and mikelove.com, and makes no mention of Al's or Brian's websites.

The "50 Years of Good Vibrations" has been one of the promotional "tags" to Mike's tour this year, and he has also been selling a "50 Years of Good Vibrations" book through his tour as well.

I don't think this trailer is meant to pertain to an unknown BRI-helmed project involving all of the band members. I hope I'm wrong.

It certainly could help to promote Capitol's lazy vinyl single reissue, but I don't think this trailer pertains specifically to that release, or any other single product.

It has a Brother and Capitol copyright notice at the end, but I'm guessing that's just because he used all footage owned and released by those entities.

Upon further review you are, unfortunately, correct

So then we can conclude that the trailer is a weird one-off; a reminder on the anniversary.  Still would like to know where the rest of the Al and Blondie interviews will end up...

Would have been nice if they used a better audio source on that.

It doesn't even look like they have the original negatives on the GV promo film, and are working from old, previously-transferred elements. Might even be working from an old SD video transfer of it.

I can't say there isn't a single blip of something we haven't seen mixed in there, as I can't screen the whole thing uninterrupted at the moment. But it's certainly the old promo film that has been aired/released several times.

Yeah, instead of preserving the original 1966 master print and sound, they should have remade it with its original negatives, and digitally remove all the film scratches and overexposed frames. Maybe autotune the vocals a little bit too.

I don't know if that's sarcastic, but there's nothing truer to the original than scanning the negatives if they exist. They probably don't.

They don't scan old films from release prints ( unless nothing else survives). They use the OCN, or an IP print, etc.

Nobody said anything about autotune or altering how the footage was shot. I'm only talking about the difference between the OCN (original camera negative) versus a print versus an old videotape transfer of some film source.

Do you want an original BB recording transferred from the original tape, or a cassette dub? If the cassette dub is all that exists then that's better than nothing certainly. But who wouldn't want the best source?
