I think it's easier to vote for the good ones than the bad ones. That said, since Please Mr Postman is still there I'm voting for it again.

Roll Over Beethoven
Chuck Berry would frown hearing such bad cover. "Roll over Beethoven".

"Roll Up, Roll Up, Roll Up for the Mystery...  We're going so fast I'm getting ahead of myself.

"Roll Over Beethoven" - This track always worked better as a live number.  I think it's on every Byrds boot I own (that's many).

I like The Beatles version.  Perfect for George's voice.  It Rocked for a while, soon it will be gone like junk mail.  Please Mister Postman, don't bother me with it.  We've got better in the wings.

all my loving and please mr postman are the best tunes on this record, if they go i'll be deeply depressed.

That was me when You Really Got A Hold On Me was voted off. Both the song itself and the Beatles version has always been an all-time favorite of mine and I had never noticed anything but praise for it. I was completely shocked to see it voted off so soon. Where else is there a John/George co-lead? Another reason I love it! The harmony is interesting too.

"Roll Over Beethoven" - This track always worked better as a live number.

Absolutely! My vote this round is purely based on the album version, but I agree, it was better live. They developed it after recording the album version and it really started to cook! Started to incorporate a soft/loud/soft/loud technique during the final verse (with a complimentary bass part by Paul) and harmonies during the final refrain. I've been listening to various released versions and they are all a little different. Sometimes there's harmony singing, sometimes there's not, and that's listening in chronological order. Interestingly, the DC show in Feb. 64 shows John joining in as well during the final refrain but I can't hear him, he's probably just doubling George's part.

I'd also like to add, if Roll Over Beethoven (the album version) is missing anything for me (and it is) its Beatle harmonies. I know covers kinda just filled out sets and albums, and it was more of a showcase for each guy to sing unaccompanied (George singing Roll Over Beethoven or John singing Dizzy Miss Lizzy) but hearing the same voice throughout each part of the song is not generally to my liking. I feel the same about the Beach Boys (or any other vocal group), it just seems lazy to me and it hardly ever benefits the song (IMO). I love when Beach Boy songs trade off leads every few lines, it completely changes and enhances the dynamic of the song. Anyway, back to Roll Over Beethoven, I always thought a low harmony by John during the bridge would have sounded cool. He could come in on the second line and bottom out on "move".

I feel the same way when it comes to All My Loving. Why is Paul harmonizing with himself in the third verse? I know, sure, they didn't have as much time to record in those days and Paul was ready to sing it, or whatever. I'd love to know if there's a story behind that decision. Anyway, George sings with Paul when they perform it live and it sounds great! I always miss it when I hear the album version. If it were a solo Paul album it wouldn't bother me at all because he nails it, but it's a Beatles album and George's voice is the secret ingredient of the Beatles sound!

After all that, my vote is for Roll Over Beethoven.

Here we go. The Beatles sophomore album.

Quote
With the Beatles is the second studio album by the English rock group the Beatles. It was released on 22 November 1963, on Parlophone, and was recorded four months after the band's debut Please Please Me. The album features eight original compositions (seven by Lennon–McCartney and "Don't Bother Me", George Harrison's first recorded solo composition and his first released on a Beatles album) and six covers (mostly of Motown, rock and roll, and R&B hits). The cover photograph was taken by the fashion photographer Robert Freeman, and it has been mimicked by several music groups over the years.

Voting wasn't even close this time around. 6 Smilers have grown deaf to the charms of Beethoven rolling over.

As usual vote for your least favorite track. The track with the most votes gets voted off.

I will shorten the voting span to 2 days. So tally will be on the 28th.

It Won't Be Long
All I've Got To Do
All My Loving
Don't Bother Me
Please Mister Postman
Hold Me Tight
Not A Second Time
Money (That's What I Want)

Following on the heels of the success of their first album, the Beatles were anxious to not rock the boat so they kept the general formula that seemed to work so well on Please Please Me. Though they took more time to record it.

Round#1 Little Child September 27
Round#2 I Wanna Be Your Man October 5
Round#3 'Till There Was You October 10
Round#4 You Really Got A Hold On Me October 17
Round#5 Devil In Her Heart October 22
Round#6 Roll Over Beethoven October 25

My first pick is an easy one. Sort of. I think Hold Me Tight is probably the weakest Lennon/McCartney song in the entire Beatles oeuvre. However, George Harrison's first attempt at song writing isn't exactly a shining moment... But which to vote off?

Ultimately, Hold Me Tight is fun. The hand claps give it energy and I kind of dig that galloping rhythm. Whereas Don't Bother Me is heavy. It has some interesting guitar work. But Harrison's vocal and overdubs are pretty messy.

I'll  STILL vote Don't Bother Me.

Oh, the LEAST* favourite? Money**, easily.

* Thankfully I noticed the LEAST bit in time. I was about to vote for "All My Loving", my fav Fab4 song.

** My least fav Pink Floyd song has the same name. Must be something about the subject matter...

Missed that one.  Love "Hold Me Tight" - my favorite of the McCartney numbers on this album.  You cats are going so fast...

Looks like soon it will be just Lennon tracks...

In the face of this development I will attempt to vote off a Lennon.

I don't think I have a favorite version of this:  "Money (That's What I Want)"

Wait
