Kitchen radio's playing Susan Maughan's "Bobby's Girl". Used to be really obsessed by it back in 2010 when bought CD dubbed "100% Rock & Roll" with 200 vintage 1950s-70s songs (it got Del's "Runaway" too, the other immediate fave). IIRC, Beatles met with her, there's pics featuring 5 together.

Just listened to this version, as I'm not familiar with Susan Maughan. The version that was a hit in the US was done earlier in 1962 by teenager Marcie Blane.
Hearing that song brings back good memories. I went on a month long camping/backpacking adventure throughout the US southwest in May-June 1979, 11 of us crammed into a VW bus. One of the group liked the song Bobby's Girl and sang it several times during the trip.
Great pic, jk!

I remember both versions when they were released. Being a fan of US music at that time (and of original versions) I preferred Marcie's version.
I remember my brother preferred Susan Maughan for extramusical reasons.

You mean songs she recorded after The Teddy Bears disbanded and she legally changed her name from Annette Kleinbard to CC? There are quite a few mentioned on her wiki page:

What else? Frankly, expected that people would drop favorite songs by Carol solo.

I have been entirely unable to remove these two songs (one is the a-side, the other its b-side) from my head lately, and I don’t mind one bit.
The Blossoms - ‘That’s When The Tears Start’ and ‘Good, Good Lovin'’

Darlene Love. One of my very favorite singers.

Relax, RR.
I really don't think she's that well-known, to be quite honest. Only for her stint in the studio with Uncle Phil as a Teddy Bear and only for their one huge hit. Beautiful song, that.

Last night I went on a bit of a Lou Christie binge. In fact I'm a little obsessed right now with the man and his music. This is a fantastic double-sider from 1966:

My son was a big fan of Gerry Rafferty when he was a toddler. This is for a very close friend of mine who often stays up to all hours--which is cool, considering there are time zones involved.

This is my go-to song whenever I'm angry or frustrated because a friend is hurting and there's nothing I can do about it:

Do you mean theSM hurt you? Since she's your friend. It's weird to believe, frankly.

HURT (transitive):
If you
hurt
someone or something, you damage them or make them feel pain.
Don't
hurt
your brother or I'll send you to your room.
HURT (intransitive):
If you
hurt
you feel pain.
I've been
hurting
ever since I fell from the roof.

OK? And don't worry, no one's fallen off a roof.
Here's a wonderfully upbeat song I bumped into last night. Junior Senior may well be Denmark's finest export (together with Carl Nielsen and Lego):

I was recently reintroduced to Love's
Forever Changes
by a good friend after years of writing it off as a decline after the magnificent side one* of its predecessor
Da Capo.
The title of this gorgeous track is not a million miles away from the name of a girl I used to know...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andmoreagain
* I've since been getting into the sprawling single track of side two thanks to that same friend.

Mr Tubey pointed me at this one last night. I can't get enough of that jangly stuff. The early Byrds get my worm every time (so to speak):

Took my Mom to the Dentist today. These appointments usually don't go well so I was a bit stressed.
Tuned the radio to the Soultown channel. And guess what played as I neared the office ?
"Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing" by Stevie Wonder. Had to laugh, and figured that the radio gods or whoever arranged for me to hear it. A wonderful song, Stevie at or near his peak.
Yes, the appointment went well. All the people at the office went out of their way to make my Mother comfortable .
So I wasn't surprised when the first song I heard going home was "Lean on Me" by Bill Withers . :-)

I was alerted to this lovely song by the excellent Lene Lovich cover. Much to her credit, she retains the iconic Four Seasons bass line.

I was pointed at the S.O.S. Band by a keyboard pupil I had in the early 1980s. Almost everything of theirs is a gem. This is "Even When You Sleep", a great favourite of mine for more than one reason. Quite apart from anything else, I
love
Mary Davis's voice.
