Bought Mitch Ryder and The Detroit Wheels' "Jenny Take A Ride"
in 1965 when it was released as a 45. It still kicks @ss today:

Thanks, Rocker. "Cadillac Man" is a corker! (I must confess to preferring Little Walter's original of "My Babe".)
Can't blame you. Little Walter's version is epic!

Didn't know that before. It's a medley of "C. C. Rider" and Little Richard's "Jenny, Jenny" of course.

I love that song. Downloaded it to my IPad and listen to it when I need a "pick me up." Sure gets the blood circulating!

Dire Straits "Walk of life", "old record parade" itself; will not link it as it's well-known.

Oh, 1965 was a wonderful time for great music, songs such as this one and "Shotgun" and "Shake and Fingerpop" (with the wonderful chorus - "Put on your wig woman, we're goin' to shake and fingerpop") by Jr. Walker

I bought "SAF" outright. It had an irresistible groove, like "Jenny Take A Ride". But the best of the bunch in retrospect (for me at least) was the wondrous "Do The Boomerang":

The L.A. band Love made some great music. For me, side one of 1966's
Da Capo
was their peak (rather than its successor).
From that side one, this is "7 And 7 Is", which was released as a 45 several months before the album:

I heard both of the following songs on T-Bone Walker's fantastic "Very rare" album from 1972, produced by Leiber&Stoller.
California Slim - Your picture done faded

Nice. Might wanna check out the original performer of this with - among others - one Carl Wilson performing it live in the 80s.

Here's interesting post for you.
Before The Mamas & Papas, Cass Elliot used to be in a band The Big 3. It's trio - she, Tim Rose & her then-husband Jim Hendricks. They've got self-titled album, there is curio
"The Banjo Song"
. Date: 1963. As you hear, they slapped Stephen Foster's "Oh Susanna" lyrics to totally different melody written (& sung) by Tim Rose. The other lead is Cass. Did anybody catch the trick? It bears resemblance to
Shocking Blue's hit "Venus"
which will be out 6 years later! Mariska Veres sings the lead, in the middle 8 she even does the wordless vocal like Cass. The guitar riff etc. - case of "great minds think alike". That said, "The Banjo Song" is way cool. Cass got groove & the raspy chap jolly good.

"The Wanderer" was Dion's finest hour in my opinion. I bought it when it was released back in '62.
Sorry for the long wait before it starts but you have to heard this in
mono!
Love that triplet effect in the backing vocals during the bridge!

This reminds me of a most unusual cut by JLH----double-tracked vocals, speeded-up guitar and that crazy echo on the "footsteps"!

Yes indeed. That sax solo----perfection! Apparently saxophonist Herbert Hardesty had never played baritone sax before that session!
