SO will Stella By Starlight and How Deep Is The Ocean be in public domain for all of us to use and profit from if the Beach Boys and BRI don't release it by the end of the year? I would love to get my hands on these and even profit money if BRI dont release these! So what can we do with these songs if BRI don't release them because they will be in public domain.

There are a bunch of takes, instrumental and the full song finished out there!

The thing is, these recordings are really only noteworthy because of the time era they were recorded in. Other than that, they could personally be two of the most uninteresting, throwaway Beach Boys studio recordings in circulation, IMO.

Carl Wilson is not amused.

Weren't these basically Brian woodshedding with arranging and recording with more sophisticated arrangements and not serious attempts at covers?

So if BRI dont release these lesser known songs You or I can basically do whatever we want with them? Could we even go as far and say we did it so we can become the next Brian Wilson?    LOL

These were recorded in 1965 so they would be public domain now. My guess is that since they are cover songs that were essentially performed by Dick Reynolds that BRI didn't see the cost/benefit to releasing it. Plus, quite frankly, those recordings are not very good!

Then how do they become in public domain? Are you sure these are 1965 recordings not 1966?!

Maybe somehow BRi will still release them! There isnt much to put out at the end of this year they can through those in on some kind of compilation in December for the internet exclusive release! That would be a nice little bonus! Got to show off ALL of Brians and the Beach Boys fine work throughout the years!
