Okay, So I propose a competition if you will.
Can you write lyrics to any Beach Boys Instrumental?
I've always wondered if the users of this forum could write lyrics for any of the Boys' amazing instrumentals.
So here we go! Write lyrics for a beach boys instrumental!

I have this very silly set of lyrics I knocked off this morning. But let's have at least one sensible attempt first.  Cool Guy

I have a little something (lyrics and melody) for the second half of "Let's Go Away for Awhile" but wouldn't dare share it right now. Haven't been able to figure anything out for the first part.

Holidays :

Verses: I think I like the verses as they are. Maybe some background vocals

Chorus 1A:
Gearing up for the island sea
The inhabitants show their misery
Just like all the indians behind them now
Still waving from the ocean liners bow

Chorus 1B:
Rock, rock, rolled
Rock, rock, rolled
Plymouth Rock, rolls over
Rolls over

Chorus 2A:
And now we live amongst the volcanos
To the people out there, here are the jobs we dole
The social structure has steamed upon Hawaii keys
Once upon a time the sandwich islands lands were green

Chorus 2B:
Rock, rock, rolled
Rock, rock, rolled
Plymouth Rock, rolls over
Rolls over

Tag:
The ride is over
The story has begun for better or
for worse

The "Whispering winds" part then has vocals they echo the history themes of past songs on the album.

here goes...lyrics to 'i said a prayer'

The night was long
And I ached for you
I said a prayer

I searched the dark
For signs you loved me too
I said a prayer

I prayed for love
Prayed you'd find it here
I miss you so

I said a prayer
Prayed you'd feel this love
I need you so

A sleepless night
Singing praise for you
I said a prayer

A glimpse of sun
Dawn has come, for us
I miss you so

I said a prayer
Said a prayer for you
Oooooh

I said a prayer
Said a prayer for you
Oooooh

(repeat and fade)

Maybe we could ask Scott how he went about writing the lyrics for "Somewhere Quiet". But then again, I don't know how to arrange a prison visit.

On our way through this "backstage" maze, Bruce joined up with the group and said hello, singing "It Never Rains in Southern California" and joking with some of the older ladies. I'm not sure if they knew he was a Beach Boy or simply an enthusiastic elderly gay gentleman.

Summer Means New Love:

Here we are
The sun bright-ly shi-ning

We only just met
I know you

Finding love
Is almost like sur-fing

The waves
Keep on co-ming strong

Sit-ting here
The wind softly blo-wing

In the warm summer day
Our fee-lings will grow

Short time gone
I'm already kno-wing

That our love
Wi-ill ca-rry on

We can melt our cares away
With each brand new sum-mer day

And the starlight in your eyes at night
Is oh so right
Please stay-ay

Now it's dark
The moon shines up above us

We feel like we ne-ver fe-elt before

When we kiss
It's like a new beginning

And I know
that you are my own.....

Here, for what it's worth, is my silly set of lyrics to a wonderful tune. The bold bits show where the beat falls at moments when it might not be clear. With apologies to all those who have provided stunning lyrics to BB instrumentals in previous posts.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYBlfpCVHBo

[1]
Yo
Here's a song about noises animals make
Though
It began as an ode to 007
James
You better run like holy hell
Well
This Leslie speaker sure sounds swell
Clear as a bell

[2]
Ouch
We must all sing this second verse in falsetto
I know Bruce
Could do this in Al's pants the first time on stage
Christ
I've never sung high G before
Love
This track fits Pet Sounds like a glove
(When) push comes to shove

[Instrumental break]

Verse three now...

Maybe this wasn't a good idea after all
Don't seem right
Better leave it to Ritchie, Carol and Lyle,
Jerry Cole, Billy Strange, Tommy Tedesco...

This is where the track fades out but you can scat your way through Bill Green, Jim Horn, Plas Johnson, Jay Migliori and Roy Caton if you so wish.

Can you write lyrics to any Beach Boys Instrumental?

What's the closing date of this competition, HaV? When will the winner be announced?

"Run James Run."

Run, James Run to the bathroom because you have to go
Run, james run or your bowels will blow
Flush and make sure you put the lid back down
Run, james run with your hands holding your cheeks
Run, or the squirts will start to smell reek
Wipe and make sure your butt doesn't smell bad
Run, james bond while you crap your pants.

"Passing By."
I have the binoculars ready
Sitting outside of your window
hope you get in the shower soon
just passing by to stalk a sweet babe
through the cracks of your curtains
I also follow you to your job
I know that where your husband works
Just passing by to kill your old man
I hope now you will fall in love with me
since I got rid of your husband
I hope now I am your hero
I know  you won't let me down
if you do your children will be next
just passing by to say I Love you!

Dancing the night away
i'm finding it hard to say
but i hope you remember when,
we laughed and didn't pretend
Where were you in the end
Watching me dance alone again
Burning inside, you see what i feel
Dancing tonight, let's make it for real

I guess I have a weakness for songs about people losing control of their body functions. It's a foible of mine. I'm very sorry.
