Stop me if this has been noticed before, but I just heard a song called Little Egypt by The Coasters, and there's a bit in the middle that is strongly reminiscent of She's Goin Bald.  I'm thinking of "She drew a comb across her scalp, and brushed what she had left..." where the chords go up in steps.  We know Brian (and Mike) were big Coasters fans; I wonder if they were doing a little cheeky homage?

Funny that you mention this because I had the same thought about "She's goin' bald" although with a different Leiber&Stoller song by The Coasters, "Along came Jones" (listen for the "and then, and then, and then"'s):
