Brian and his band rehearse "I Just Wasn't Made For These Times"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejRHLAnd83g&fmt=18

Edit:  After getting Sony Vegas recently, and after receiving the honor of being personally commended by Hal Blaine for my other videos, I thought I'd make more "session videos" like the ones I made a few months ago.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ofByti7A4uM&fmt=18

This video is Vol. 1 of "Behind the Sounds".  I plan to cover all of Pet Sounds in this fashion over the next few months.

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

That's odd that Bruce would sing a song about getting high!!

It came out on the Rarities LP and it was a good album. The only problem is that Brian had Bruce sing the lead at normal tempo, then overdubbed the backing vocals on this slowed down version intending it to be sped back up. I guess it was one of the times he wanted the group to sound "younger". Anyhow when the LP came out nobody realized that it was supposed to be sped back up so it came out like this in error.

My first guess was that it was Al. Then I thought maybe it was Mike without any nasal. Then I thought Bruce with out his vibrato. I guess 3rd times a charm.

I've heard the BBs soo much, I rarely every have a problem figuring out whose singing. But the fact that the voice was altered to a slower pitch makes me feel better. I had a similar problem with Its Over Now.

This is video of Van Dyke Parks conducting an amazing arrangement for the song "Yellow Magic Carnival". He is funny to watch, with all kinds of goofy, exuberant mannerisms. Really into the music. It proves he still has it even today.
