This is the best live vocal performance I have ever seen the Boys do: http://youtube.com/watch?v=7Vy4eVYJQrsNote at the end, when Brian nails some super high falsetto notes, and Mike looks over at him either in amazement or admiration. Sound pre-recorded to me.

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.- Lester Bangs on The Beach Boys PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LISTTo sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.- Jack Rieley

They're singing along to a prerecorded track of themselves. Live doubling, you could call it.

Wow, Jack Klugman, young Uncle Jesse! Don't know how I missed this show. I always loved Klugman. And, the Boys looked they were having a ball on the 2 songs they really played live.
The irony of Brian striding in and announcing "new arrangements" had me rolling.
The only special sitcom appearance I've seen (so far) that wasn't cloying schmaltzy sickening sweet pap. I can't bear to watch the Full House appearances, and Home Improvement wasn't much better.

You don't need him anyway - some of us have the same items in our collections as he does and we're also much better writers. Whoa, crazy to hear Brian still singing that sweet falsetto in 1974! The decline was even more rapid then I thought.

There are people who have taken LSD thousands of times and are as sane as Jeff Foskett. Well, that's a bad example, because Jeff hates Love You and that's INSANE.

I thought I would post this. It's the All Star jam from Dick Clark's 30th Anniversary from 1981. It doesn't have much Beach Boys content, but it does feature Al Jardine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iMhpMdTWNVs

Tara Busch asks Brian how the intro for "Do It Again" was recorded: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HUo7IYRNfPITypical Brian, tells complete nonsense, then she asks again and gets the correct answer.

Al's solo wasn't "good" by any means, but it sounded very early-60s-surf-rock.
I think he plays some lead in his current band.

I ain't 'fraid no ghosts! That's my main memory of the guy. Sad... I'm sure he's done far more good then just the Ghostbusters theme song, I'd think.

That's upsetting to me that he is simply remembered in pop culture as a drummer for the Beach Boys who had a drinking problem. I really hope that the coming release of POB/Bambu will change that forever.
