I have Back To Mono on vinyl and it sounds great. I don't think Ronnie has sounded good since the mid 70's.

Of course you would have it on vinyl I never knew it was even released on vinyl? That's strange. I have it on CD, so does anyone with the CD edition know if it is poor sound quality compared to the original vinyls?

They sing like bored housewives. No soul. I really don't understand how you can compare them to Ronnie Spector or Darlene Love, who are probably the best singers from that girl group era.
They do kind of have that no-frills style to their singing, almost as if they ARE housewives, singing to themselves while they fix dinner. I like Marilyn's (AGD said it was Marilyn-- I have trouble telling them apart) lead on Good Time and a couple of others. Whoever sings Fallin' in Love has that bored quality, but then, that might have been a choice to let the song speak and not the singer. Regardless, neither of the sisters has much stylistic range, but maybe that's why Brian thought their voices were so great-- the girl next door thing. I think they're great backup singers, though.

The medley as such probably is the downright most disgustig form to present any kind of music.

Rule of thumb, think BEFORE you post. And THINK how it may affect someone else's feelings. Check out the Beach Boys Starline website, the place for pictures of many countries Beach Boys releases on 45. Listening to you I get the music; Gazing at you I get the heat; Following you I climb the mountain; I get excitement at your feet Right behind you I see the millions; On you I see the glory; From you I get opinions; From you I get the story

That's Mike with Mary MacGregor singing "Do You Hear What I Hear". That may be the most disturbing Beach Boys related footage I've seen on youtube yet. Take a look at the lamb at 2:10...I think it's considering therapy. However, that's probably the best 80s vocal I've ever heard from Mike...so it balances out!

There are people who have taken LSD thousands of times and are as sane as Jeff Foskett. Well, that's a bad example, because Jeff hates Love You and that's INSANE.

Most of the links on the old one are dead or cancelled.
I can't believe how quickly Dick Clark Productions can get a video taken down. Burton Cummings (Guess Who) has been trying to get a particularly odious video featuring one of his songs taken down for weeks without success.
Please: no links to videos by amateurs featuring a Beach Boys song over pictures or other irrelevant footage, like vacation shots. That's not a real video.

What about the stuff that funcds posts? Most of his videos are of rare BB songs that would otherwise be unheard... but they're accompanied with extremely irrelevant pictures of women in bikinis and such.

I only meant the amateur stuff. For example, take a look at this marvelously produced video for "All This Is That." This is not the kind of stuff I was talking about. http://youtube.com/watch?v=nRkwRS4Za4cBoth versions back to back. Raises many questions. I definitely hear Bruce on the fast version doubling with Mike, and singing the falsetto at the end. Where does this version date from? From before Bruce left, or does this prove that Bruce was still working with the boys even after his departure? When was the decision made to morph it into a dreamy trance version, and have Carl do the falsetto? I wish Carl had done more of them - this one is mind blowing.

This is the best live vocal performance I have ever seen the Boys do: http://youtube.com/watch?v=7Vy4eVYJQrsNote at the end, when Brian nails some super high falsetto notes, and Mike looks over at him either in amazement or admiration.

The alternate of All This Is That is actually from a 1993 tour rehearsal.

Brian is amazingly lucid, outgoing, and even somewhat macho in this one. I've given up trying to figure him. Just accept him for what he is. http://youtube.com/watch?v=7mfsHRyZgvc
