Some guy apparently made a SMiLE mix featuring vocals and additional instruments by himself, here's his version of Tune X.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEJX6SmMw1s

That was interesting. Not sure I like the lyrics but the sound was cool.

I've been looking for that for years! I had that as a song file a few years ago, and lost it. I've been trying to find it ever since.

Hey people! Pretty shameless plug here, but I started a Youtube channel at the start of the month to upload all the great bootleg material I've amassed over the internet that isn't on Youtube already. I've basically gotten around to the most noteworthy stuff, but I'll keep trying to dig deeper and pull out some real knockout pieces of music.

I've found so much of the music that I love and still listen to regularly from poking around Youtube, it's so easy to just sit down and get absorbed into the infinite stream of content on that website, so I figured I'd do my part by giving back what I think is music that everyone should get to listen to whenever.

I started with the demo to "Sweetie" because I thought that'd be the one people would want to hear most, then cherry picked the kind of songs that highlight just how fantastic the Beach Boys back catalog of unreleased material is. I really dig the rough mix of "Wind Chimes" for that STELLAR instrumental section, the extended "Getcha Back", the backing track to "Friends", and most head-scractchingly: the only version of "I'm Begging You Please" on the entirety of Youtube that wasn't a recording of the song being played off computer speakers (no excuse for that in this day and age!).

I also am getting around to uploading all the unreleased backing tracks I can find that someone else hasn't already uploaded. Some expectedly true gems in there.

Enjoy, guys

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.
