I love those Brian live videos from 2000, they're excellent. They sound great, and Brian seems excited and happy and he's actually pretending to play the keyboard instead of just standing behind it. So much enthusiasm. Look at the smile on his face in the Letterman one. Beautiful.

Is that a Moog ribbon controller theremin synth thingie I see on Good Vibrations?

In all honesty, I've always hated when he did that.

I don't like what he does with his hands when they're just hanging there.

Though the fake-playing confused me at first.. I was thinking to myself, "Oh, looks like they're playing Sloop John B with only two chords, that's weird."

I love how they edited in all of the "parade of lights" with that breakdown part in the middle of that song.

Question: do you think the kids were really into it?  in case nobody saw the show, the deal was the children had a disease where they couldn't go into the daylight or they'd get skin cancer, so they opened Disney all night for them, so the sun wouldn't be out, then brought in Brian Wilson (sun, get it?) to sing Christmas Songs, lol!

Always liked "The First Time", even when it was demoed as "In The Nighttime"; great melody and background vocals.

Excellente!

That brought me back to realizing how great Pet Sounds is. I wonder though, if Paul were to conduct a large ensemble of musicians, if his results would rival Brian's? The Beatles and George Martin did wonderful things by themselves, whereas Brian was one brain operating 30+ people.

He does sound strange in that clip. If anything I would have expected a much rougher, less audible voice. He didn't sound like himself at all, but his voice sounded like it had more substance to it than in some of the audio I've heard from the previous few years. Are there any clips of him singing from around this time?

Paul's actually pretty good with orchestras, I think. He's realized a few classical albums, and an opera, among other things.

My copy of Queen cut off the interview. Very cool to see. Brian and Dennis are not there. Dennis' voice does sound odd. I couldn't make out what he was saying during Help Me Rhonda but somebody there says he yells out I Love Shawn when Mike comes over to the piano. Grin
