Tough song though, vocal-wise! I've tried to learn it/sing it and each part trips me up everytime!

Brian Wilson doing a bit of South American @ Farm Aid in 1998. Gotta love the dance moves starting around 0:46:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nj0Kl9Njclw

Wow. Thank you!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgjvFRyJUL4

The band assembled this promotional film in 1968 for their album "20/20". This original version of the film has not been seen in over 40 years. The soundtrack that was used when the program aired was "I Can Hear Music" (which I've muted here for copyright reasons).

Plus intro!

And look at this. "Where it's at" 1969 - Beach Boys at 2:09 and also later

a diseased bunch of mo'fos if there ever was one… their beauty is so awesome that listening to them at their best is like being in some vast dream cathedral decorated with a thousand gleaming American pop culture icons.

- Lester Bangs on The Beach Boys

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Someone uploaded "Danicn' the night away" from the '90s sessions featuring backing vocals by Mike and Carl (that "somewhere out in Malibu" part is wonderful)

Nice, haven't heard this in a while! If there's one song the surviving BB's should resurrect and add their voices to, it's this one!

Thank you, thank you, thank you!   That was the coolest thing I've seen in a long time! You get a sense of what musicians were thinking in the late 60's, and the issues inextricably tied to the music!  I watched them both twice!  Loved Carl's assessment of "bread" (money) in the justice system.  Just awesome for you to find!   Wink

I know there's a bunch of videos int he Royal Albert Hall thread (and thanks to all who shot/posted them), but the end of "Summer's Gone"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65BTQXb194w

Does Brian's speaking voice, when he thanks the crowd, sound better than it has since he got the awful pharmaceutical cocktail from Landy in the '80s? It does tome. No slurring, and he sounds younger.

So much for the thought of the tour wearing Brian down. He was just hitting his stride as it ended.

I didn't know Brian attempted DWB in it's original key a few years ago, albeit doubled by Jeff,  I thought he only ever did in in C on the solo tours!

To me this has a very  1980's feel, but not in an overly cheesy way. More of a cross between progressive rock and r&b. A remake in this style would have fit nicely on their self titled 1985 album. Having this on the album in place of California Calling would have improved the album quite a bit.
