I found this on Youtube-search Youtube under Beach Boys TV segment 1981 and up comes a very rare clip from a show called World of People with backstage footage of the BBs at Caesar's Tahoe in Oct 1980.  They talk about the upcoming Forum anniversary show.  The show aired on Dec 1 1980 (though it is listed as 1981). I have never seen it before-pretty cool (catch it now-it will probably disappear by next week)

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

I remastered the Mike Douglas performance of Celebrate The News. I always hated how distant it was so I zoomed it in. I only have Nero so this isn't professional and of course I don't have the master tape. With this in mind I hope you enjoy this. Considering what I had to work with it looks more interesting to me now.

Thanks Jay. Considering that it's not too expensive I think Nero can do some really neat things.

It would be cool to get an even further zoom in to see Carl on the drums, which must have been a very rarely seen event. It's weird that Carl mimed in the same drumming style that Dennis did.  Grin Carl also played the keyboard in that weird "chopping" style that Brian does.

I always look at clips like this and think: how embarrassed was Carl?Huh

He always came off as far too classy and looked/dressed way too sharp for such nonsense?

BUT, Brian looks handsome and he's really singing here.

Also, pants aside, Mike sounds really really good on the bridge.

This is probably the arrangement they were inspired by: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZX5YPpfOINQ

it's worth noting Ronnie Spector also covered it in '64.

Nice! I'm sure BW's vocal was recut in post... BUT awesome hearing him sing lead in the original key on this one way after the fact.
His falsetto at the end, on "aboooout it" is sick! Classic BB's blend.
