Behind The Sounds: I Know There's An Answer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ijSnyoba60E

I have to put this as unlisted for the time being, since the audio was flagged for copyright and is blocked in tons of countries as a result.  I'm disputing it, explaining that it falls under fair use...for educational purposes only.

Hopefully this will work for everyone, but it still might be blocked in certain countries.

Works for me thanks! My favorite song on Pet Sounds, most days.

Somebody posted this a while back, but I figured I would post it again. This is Brian on One on One with John Tesh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iUq7HcodB0&feature=related  I thought this was a very interesting video. The person being interviewed almost doesn't seem like Brian Wilson. He seems very...arrogant. When he talks about his daughters he almost seems mean spirited.

Where can those vocal sessions/outtakes be found? They don't sound familiar to me

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

Dare I say here we have a candid glimpse into the 'real Brian Wilson' beyond the fan dream? Sure he's probably on something since he seems extroverted, totally with it, at ease knowing he is, etc... but still, he's showing some of his real feelings here - as they were, at least, then.

To contrast though - on that same Facebook like as the new Disney song from Brian there's a clip of Melinda joking about firing Jeff, and she asks Brian who is sitting there if they should fire him. He said SO INNOCENTLY "What's that, Melinda? No I don't wanna fire Jeff!" The 'no' is so childlike, so simple, not seeming to understand the joke at first and actually feeling hurt at the thought of firing Jeff.

I actually gained a lot of respect for Jeff then - I don't like his voice all that much and he seems a bit lame but Brian seems to find a lot of comfort in his presence.

It's sometimes difficult to know how much was the "true" Brian, and how much was "Landy filtered". He may well have been saying his true feelings in this interview clip, but his old attitude doesn't seem to be the way the "real Brian" acted. Notice that his keeps his head tilted up the whole time. It just seems like he has a "holier than thou" ego.

There's no real anything in anyone, man. Everything's always changing. I don't exist - so there can be change. If this "I" stayed stagnant - nothing would ever happen.

Jeez, everyone makes fun of Murry but doesn't mention how sarcastic Al and the others are being to him! He's trying to help his boys out.

All (or most) of the vocal overdub sessions for the released version of IKTAA were booted on the fourth disc of the first SOT Pet Sounds Volume.

I'm pretty sure that the backing vocals on the chorus of IKTAA are mixed really low in the released version, I could've sworn I heard them on the stereo version...

Maybe smog is to blame for all Brian's problems? He says here it's a killer and makes him want to sit around all day doing nothing. Did the smog just get to him? SMOG KILLED SMILE.
