One of my favorite hallmarks of Beach Boys/Brian Wilson songs are beautiful tags that repeat at the end of a song with gorgeous harmonies.

I put together a list of my top 10 off the top of my head...what do you guys think? Prefer tags or no tags? Anything I'm missing here?

***edited based on feedback, forgot a few classics!!

13. When I Grow Up To Be A Man
12. Keep An Eye On Summer
11. It's Ok
10. I Just Wasn't Made For These Times
9. Fun Fun Fun
8. That's Why God Made The Radio
7. Time To Get Alone
6. You Still Believe In Me
5. California Girls
4. Girls On The Beach
3. God Only Knows
2. Surf's Up
1. Til I Die

I'd add the tag from It's Ok on to that list. Always loved that one.

Tags are such a big part of pop----long live tags!

- The "fuzz" tag to the 2fer version of "Can't Wait Too Long"
- "Funky Pretty"
- "Break Away"
- "Leaving This Town" has a wonderful tag of entirely new material
- The false ending of "I'm So Young"----wow!
- "Wind Chimes" (Smiley Smile version)

Yep, lots of great tags. As Carl said in an interview, the BBs loved tags.

Two more "dynamic" tags...

--Dennis' tag in his version of "River Song."
--The jam-packed, kick-ass instrumental/vocal array in the last 35 seconds of "Mess of Help to Stand Alone," turning the entire raison d'être for BBs tags upside down and inside out.

When I Grow Up To Be A Man

Won't last forever...
It's kinda sad...

I've always loved that. Mike & Brian really nailed that part. It's my favorite part of the song.

Also, the coda of the Smiley Smile version of Wind Chimes is heavenly.

Plus the low voice singing "Oh no" as Its Kinda sad is sung. Love listening to this acapella!

Some more off the top of my head:

- Melt Away
- "Barnshine" fade to Heroes and Villains
- Love and Mercy (BW88)
- Guess I'm Dumb
- Love Remember Me
- Car Crazy Cutie
- Gettin' in Over My Head (Original Version)
- Wontcha Come Out Tonight
- Goin' On
- Break Away (preferably the single mix, the amazing harmonies are much more clearer here!)
- Celebrate the News
- I Do
- Sweet Mountain
- At My Window
- Soulful Old Man Sunshine
- A Day in the Life of a Tree
- Don't Fight the Sea
- We Gotta Groove
- Male Ego
- All I Wanna Do

Did I miss any?  Tongue

Nice thread!

Among the many, I'd choose:

10. God Only Knows.
9. California Girls.
8. Can't Wait Too Long, bass guitar ending in the twofer version.
7. Wind Chimes, Smiley Smile version ("Whispering Winds").
6. Fun, Fun, Fun (live rendition with baritone sax riff).
5. Time To Get Alone.
4. 'Til I Die.
3. Airplane.
2. "Barnshine", the softer version with plucked strings at the end of Heroes and Villains, Part II, in the two-CD Smile Sessions and the 45 vinyl.
1. Vegetables, from CD1 of the Smile Sessions, with that unique kaleidoscope of voices, partly reused in the middle section ("Hey Baba Ruba") of Wonderful in Smiley Smile.

Did someone say Coda?

I've said it once, and I'll say it until I die: "Kiss Me, Baby". Enough said.
