Such a brilliant song at the original speed, BW is doing for young people what Sinatra did for middle aged to older people!

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Once I heard it at the 'correct' speed, I could no longer enjoy the originally released version as much.

I'm glad you brought this up because I was just wondering yesterday: who plays the flute on the 'In Concert' Caroline No?

It´s neither Charles Lloyd nor Robert Kenyatta. It´s Ricky Fataar playing the flute here.

Really? If that's true, color me surprised...didn't know Ricky played the flute (knew he played guitar and keys in addition to drums), and I thought he was on percussion on this track.

We need official confirmation...Ian, Jon, or c-man...any insight?

From the 'Breaking down "In Concert"' thread:

Despite Robert Kenyatta often being credited in connection with this album as a woodwind player, he is in fact a percussionist. The flute on CAROLINE, NO and the intro to SLOOP is played here by Ricky Fataar.

I remember seeing Ricky playing flute at those early '70s shows.

Wow, Ricky is so talented.  A great drummer, a really good singer and now I find out he also plays flute.  I really wish that he could have been included in Brian's current tour.  It would be amazing to have Blondie and Ricky there.
