I just love the rivalry in the "General Music Discussion" section between RR, Rocker and myself. There's this constant battle to occupy the top spot on the page.

It certainly keeps things lively and draws others into the (musical) fray in the process. Good stuff.

Looking at the Calendar, I see this fine gentleman and erstwhile Smiley poster turns 32 today. I hope he has a very cool Saturday!

His Beach Boys blog was my favorite thing when I first got into this band...that he spent so much time uploading bootlegs for all to hear was beyond meaningful to me as a fan (even though I'm sure some didn't particularly care for him uploading some of that stuff). I'm pretty sure my first experience of vintage SMiLE was his upload of Purple Chick which blew me away.

I know older fans have their "I had to trade my first wife and 3 copies of The Beatles doll-slaughter LP for a SMiLE cassette boot which was delivered via Pony Express" stories...which are awesome stories, no doubt. In 3 decades us younger fans will be on whatever Beach Boys forums aren't run by maniacs writing our horror stories of bootleg acquirements "Back in my day we would have to go to music blogs and play Russian roulette with Mediafire links - half of which didn't work and a quarter of them would infect our computers with malware. Those were the days!"

Thanks Warnakey for all the memories and all the time you spent posting to that blog. Your time dedicated to that no doubt helped my fandom, which has helped steer my life to brighter horizons. Happy birthday man

Two weeks ago I decided I was leaving Smiley. There were aspects of it that were getting me down (all of my own making, needless to say). But there are other aspects of it that I've missed. So here I am again. Let's hope I tread with a little more care this time.

Today is the birthday of Mikie. I can't remember what exactly caused him to leave Smiley. I do recall him insisting that I shouldn't forget his birthday!

That was at PSF. A lot of water has been passed under the bridge since then.
