I just love the rivalry in the "General Music Discussion" section between RR, Rocker and myself. There's this constant battle to occupy the top spot on the page.
It certainly keeps things lively and draws others into the (musical) fray in the process. Good stuff.

Curious to see the "Rolling Beach Boys covers thread" in the "General Music Discussion" section.
No wonder I was warned it hadn't been posted in for at least 120 days. No one can find it.

Folks, if you want to continue talking about the use of other languages on this forum, please feel absolutely free to do it here.
I myself have occasionally addressed Klaas (SMiLE-Holland) in Dutch. I don't see the problem.

Ta-dum. Nice song, isn't? It's the fact that Murry isn't talented at penning songs - mediocre at best duh.
Carefully good to see that nobody thinks "Boo Skip Bite Skip"* is the nerd's finest few minutes.
*cool pun, ain't it?
Yep.
Real cool - you've talent to churn out puns.
Yep.
Real cool.
Well played.
Thank you, dears.
But, I knew I'm good at fun ideas.
But thanks.

This place is getting to me. Last night I dreamt I met NateRuvin! He had to sign something somewhere and identified himself out loud. I went over, introduced myself and shook his hand. He couldn't get away quick enough!

His Beach Boys blog was my favorite thing when I first got into this band...that he spent so much time uploading bootlegs for all to hear was beyond meaningful to me as a fan (even though I'm sure some didn't particularly care for him uploading some of that stuff). I'm pretty sure my first experience of vintage SMiLE was his upload of Purple Chick which blew me away.
I know older fans have their "
I had to trade my first wife and 3 copies of The Beatles doll-slaughter LP for a SMiLE cassette boot which was delivered via Pony Express
" stories...which
are
awesome stories, no doubt. In 3 decades us younger fans will be on whatever Beach Boys forums aren't run by maniacs writing our horror stories of bootleg acquirements "
Back in my day we would have to go to music blogs and play Russian roulette with Mediafire links - half of which didn't work and a quarter of them would infect our computers with malware. Those were the days!
"
Thanks Warnakey for all the memories and all the time you spent posting to that blog. Your time dedicated to that no doubt helped my fandom, which has helped steer my life to brighter horizons. Happy birthday man

Two weeks ago I decided I was leaving Smiley. There were aspects of it that were getting me down (all of my own making, needless to say). But there are other aspects of it that I've missed. So here I am again. Let's hope I tread with a little more care this time.

Glad you came back. Sometimes we just need a break.
Thought of you - got tickets to see Lawrence of Arabia on the big screen this Sunday. Will also be playing on Wednesday - might go to that showing as well lol.

Yes, we do need a break at times, for the clearing of heads and gathering of thoughts.
I wouldn't blame you if you did both days--
Lawrence
on the big screen is a

Today is the birthday of Mikie. I can't remember what exactly caused him to leave Smiley. I do recall him insisting that I shouldn't forget his birthday!
That was at PSF. A lot of water has been passed under the bridge since then.
It's a funny old world, to be sure. Anyway. Many happies, sir.
