Working on a new project, this time on that other West Coast harmony ensemble. Anyone here have any memorabilia or old articles they'd care to share on The Association ? Or maybe even the rare early 70s promo 45 "Sleepy Eyes", the one missing item from my collection...

 Cool

Heavens, did they themselves ever play a single note on any recorded song? Even on PBS oldies shows they play to a recording. I respect your affection for them, but when I heard this I was disheartened.

Yes, professor, right to be disheartened by incorrect facts, since the guys played on many tracks.

And, in case you are unaware of tv production, backing tracks are done by bands...sometimes with a few session players added, because the tv companies insist.

Short notice: the cat you see to the left is the best. Not counting your indoor cat who might have habit sitting at your left side when you post at SmileySmile.

Glad you liked the Beach Boys PDFs - really enjoyed pulling that one together  Cool
As for The Association, I've no idea at present how, when or where it'll be finished, shared or whatever - but, regardless, of the misnomers that still surround them, I intend too see it through in one format or another ! I would HOPE to see such a project published, independently or wherever, but time will tell...

I am happy to be wrong!  Chalk this up to the Wrecking Crew movie, which I ought to have doubted. So let me apologize to the Association fans. The damned wrecking crew would have us believe they played every note on every song since Swanee River.

Please enjoy these discoveries of your band. I always enjoyed their music and will explore more openly and wisely now.
