Eek. Does a soundboard of the '66 Japan tour even circulate? I remember there being a pretty "meh" (at best) audience recording, but not much else. Usually these grey market releases at least grab soundboard/radio broadcast recordings, not audience tapes.

It'd be nice if there was a legitimate soundboard recording of the '66 Japanese tour; you can tell on the audience recording that the Japanese fans LOVED them.

As 1966 got underway, Brian Wilson was crafting Pet Sounds in Los Angeles, while his bandmates continued to tour. Mike Love, Al Jardine, Dennis Wilson, Carl Wilson and Bruce Johnston started the year by flying to Japan, where they toured from January 7th to the 23rd. The superb performance from Sankei Hall, Osaka, Japan on 13th January 1966, broadcast on NHK Radio, finds them on excellent form as they tackle a cross-section of their most popular material to date, both originals and covers. Its presented here together with background notes and images, and a bonus rare interview.

Release date June 17

Seems like a short tracklisting for an 80's show, when the group was on stage for over an hour.

Assumption based on the setlist and circulating bootlegs; I'd say the "Live in the Eighties" set consists of part of the 1980 Philadelphia gig and part of the 1981 Washington DC gig. Both were played on the radio at the time
