Hahaha. To each their own, of course. One of my all-time favourite oven dishes is baked potatoes, leeks and unseemly quantities of blue cheese sauce. Scrumptious! LOL

john, I thought we could be friends, but I guess not.

Side note, I don't mind a little mayo on sandwiches, but look at it when it's still in the jar.... it's unsettling.

Staying with blue cheese for a moment (sorry, everyone), to my knowledge this fine foodstuff gets mentioned in just one song, Captain Beefheart's "25th Century Quaker".

The first of two mentions is just after 1:20:

Well, I happen to love the blue cheese. Being a Dane, I would ... (Danish Blue, anyone?) So much so, that I'd like to put John K's cheesy (in the finest sense) fromage-homage to the stuff (and to comedian Lenny BRUCE, NOT BRUCE Lee though they'd both "recur blue" from their respective line of work, but for different reasons) right here in a special 'condimental' renga-palindromic version (tanka+haiku):

>Des/Ned: NO cheese, Ma?
Is Red leap (e.g. Amor)
fondue floop-all-up?"
"I recur blue" (L. Bruce, rip)
"I recur bleu" (L. Bruce (rip)

Ullapool feud? No >
fromage, Pa: elder Siamese,
Eh? (condensed!)<

And now for some helpful hints from my own experience with blue cheese:
In Denmark we have a saying that 'one needs to take away the grim taste' [to bring out the great one]. That something could be adding a (salmonella-free) egg yolk on top of the slice of bread with the 'fromage bleu' of your choice. And!or pouring a schnaps! Or better still serving it with something sweet like a glass of port and fruit, berries or jam.
But the best way to start the blue cheese adventure, is probably with the mild and very delicate Gorgonzola!
