{Apparently "WAKA" can also be another word for TANKA (5/7/5/7/7). And "RENGA" means (multiple) sequential tanka(s)! Honestly, not making these up! So by this definition the more recent, jk's George Martin-memorial poem is a renga too with 2 haiku's in between ( the building blocks themselves are palindromic too on that one: tanka/haiku/haiku/tanka).
But here comes that other one, the re-titled 100+ syllables-sized super-palindrome. PalinDRUM-roll, please! By john k:}

Most curious to see my monicker (or anybody's monicker, come to that) in the heading of someone else's topic.

Rasmus, don't forget to acknowledge your own not inconsiderable contribution to this fine Regna.:=)

Sorry, must have been doing this for too long (been at it since x-mas). The word should have been spelled: RENGA. But WAKA & the definitions are a.o.k! But 'RegnaRangeR' doesn't make any sence now! How about 'RengaWagneR', then?

That'll do fine, R. Though I shall refrain from adopting it in an official capacity. Cool Guy

As you see, I've altered the titles of both my posts accordingly.

Kudos, Rasmus. The most I could squeeze out of "GV" for a palindrome was "a-happenin'"...

Good Vibrations Poem by Robert Pettit (2012):

Ninety hours in the recording studio is a long time.
You just could not decide on the perfect melody and rhyme.
Well, that period of time is a little too long.
However, it was worth it when we heard the song.

Success was something we could not deny.
Up the Billboard Singles chart it would fly.
We heard it played by disc jockeys coast to coast.
Fans in foreign contries considered it the most.

We can still hear it today although the group disbanded.
Nothing less than number one on the charts was demanded.
The song aimed for the stars and hasn't yet landed.

Was Brian Wilson really inspired by Beatles-album REVOLVER when he did SMiLE - or by something else? ...thorgil has asked (haiku-palindrome by thorgil:)

`Pickin` up`  the only Beach Boys limerick-palindrome ever written, here in a Good Vibrations edit-

Dennis also coined the catch-phrase: `SMiLE makes Pet Sounds stink!` So I thought, why not give this one to Dennis as well ... Making it an exchange between him and Mike!

Some of us will celebrate the release date of that MONSTER single two days in advance at the BB convention in Greenford, London (saturday oct. 8th).
Why not have your own Good Vibrations musing(s) of ANY sort, kind, shape or form at the ready by then at the latest? And post it here asap, please!

My one desperate attempt to make a GV palindrome only got as far as including the word "a-happenin'", though it did add the year of its release and the city where it was recorded:

"A. Layne pets 1966 Dartmoor debutante no. nine [PP]
/ Aha!----Vosse sees Esso V a-happenin' on Etna"
Tubed Room, trad. 6691-step, Enya, L.A.

GV-triplet with a BIG nod to "CLEM" (actually being Carl Wilson - but if it WAS Mike Love, it'd work out just as well):

A rocket science Do--Mi

+ sock-it-"Clem"-to-me !

= "POCKET SymPHONY"

GV-triplet with a BIG nod to "CLEM" (actually being Carl Wilson - but if it WAS Mike Love, it'd work out just as well):

Clem might be Clem Cattini, who played drums with The Tornados and then did session work for hundreds of artists. The Tornados' "Telstar" (a pocket symphony of sorts) would tie in with rocket science. And Do-Mi almost rhymes with Joe Meek, who produced the song...

As for GV in a palindrome, this one includes it but a shorter one would be more satisfying. I'll see what I can do...

This is my desperate attempt (including some of the usual suspects) to palindromically incorporate the titles and BB co-authors of two books that are all over this forum. It does fall apart near the end (where it reads like a Babelfish translation, largely thanks to the major problem of reversing Wilson) but the final sentence puts everything back into wonderful perspective. Enjoy!

"Emma, I'd Etna Wilson," I blabbed. "O ogre, have a Danko oblate ponder reef! I (Lyme Regis) rip/rev L.A. vibrations. Yo, Brian! O bedlam... Ron, tame vole! Kim, add A, edit B! Beach, CA, ebb tide: add a Mike Love mat, normal debonair boys. No, I tar bivalve R. Pirsig, ere my life err. Ed, no petal book----nada! Eva her good ebb albinos Li wanted. I am me."

Okay, R, have it your own way. Smokin

Here's that new shorter celebratory GV palindrome where it belongs:

Si, erase----yes, no? I tar bivalve. Remit emo's didgeridoo good. I, Reg, did sometime rev LA vibrations. Eyes are I's

I REALLY like this GV-drome! The way it reflects BRIAN being indecisive all thru' the months of recording (using tube-equipped [bi-valve'd monophonic?] studio gear). The EMOs, a SMiLE(y)-reference? I could always imagine Brian making good use of a didgeridoo on Good Vibrations or on anyone of his greatest recordings!
While the notion of the 'vibrations' came from Brian's mother, it's easy to imagine father Reggie Dunbar being around to 'rev-up' the good vibrations - all in the eyes/I's of the beholder of course!
Anyway, that's my take on it. Good Vibrations tanka palindrome starring Brian & Murray "Reg" Wilson [by john k:]

>"Si, erase------yes, no?
I tar bi-valve! Remit EMOs !
Didgeridoo - GOOD ?"
"I, 'Reg' did sometime rev LA-
'VIBRATIONS'!" Eyes ARE I's !<

Like I predicted, we had some celebration of Good Vibrations at the Beach Boys convention in London. Together we watched the silent movie of Brian's GV production, brought in by the brilliant special guest: Alan Boyd! And what a thrill it was to see Brian in total command of the studio situation with the Boys and 'The Clique'/Wrecking Crew - even without sound. This great & historic live footage was filmed like this by an unknown hero, called BOB(?) Al on his box, Dennis fooling around much like Lennon did! And at one point Brian wears a vest/waistcoat similar to Spector's!
Sidebar re: our SMiLEY-pal Theydon Bois. I wondered about his name; french or what? Then on my way to Greenford, I discovered that there's a London Tube-station also called "Theydon Bois"!?
And tomorrow, monday it's the 10/10 2016: the big jubilee date!!! POST & CELEBRATE, please ...

Thanks for the info, R. Sounds like it was quite a bash.

Yes, that station. It's pronounced "Thayd'n Boys"!

I'm still trying to ascertain the exact date when they premiered "Good Vibrations" on the radio in the UK in October '66. That's when I first heard it (it was in the evening) and I must have made a note of it but unfortunately I don't have my diary for that year any more...

Who came up with that >SMiLEr-prelim's< title anyway. [Senryu-palindrome (3/3/3)] Was it---:
a) Al with egg on his angel face? OR
b) Brian with mud in his angel eyes?

>"Dumb Angel"

That fine 'old master painter`:

      Vosse-posse BOSS

One of the POSSEs was PJ Robbins, who released his book: "Twelve Haikus" in L.A. (1958) when he was only 21 years - to mixed reviews (A.J. - like waiting at a bus stop? Luau - like having a ball?):

>L.A., Paul Jay Robbins:
'12 Haikus'. Suk, IAH  ! - 21  ?!
'SNIB`/`BORY!`/'A.J-!`/LUA`!-pal.<

Van Dyke has stated that he left the SMiLE project in 1967, because he`d had it with Brian Douglas` "buffoonery" (comparing it to that of Cyrano de Bergerac):

>B*`  D. - enoff, e`

BUFFOONaRY `Cyrano`!

(Off U B, eff'* one) d` B.<
