Just stumbled across this on Billboard - apparently, The King of Surf Guitar, 78, has to tour to pay his many medical bills  Sad

And I remember seeing an article that mentioned that 'infamous' Jimi Hendrix quote during the Monterrey Festival, about not having to deal with surf music any more. It had nothing to do with the Beach Boys; Dick Dale said that Hendrix was misquoted and that the remark was about him. At the time Dale was very sick and it was thought that he hadn't long to live.
