Ahead of his British tour, here's a brand new interview with a friend of mine (which I suspect will end up in the Bob Dylan magazine, The Bridge):

I saw Gordon in concert several times in the past - 1979, 1981, 1982, 2000, 2013. The last show was at a casino, and was not the best venue for him - lots of drunk air force brats in the crowd singing along very loudly. Gord's voice is a lot thinner than it used to be, but his band is excellent, and even at a casino, they do a 2 hour show. I think the best show, actually, might have been 2000, in a nice old theater. His voice was still strong then, and he played just about every song I could have hoped for. And I agree with the interviewer, 1983's Salute album is a great one.

Thanks for posting this. He said that he's leaving present day songwriting to the young. Like Brian, Gordon Lightfoot shouldn't have to prove himself anymore. He's left a wonderful catalog of songs to be enjoyed again and again.

Had the good fortune to see Mr Lightfoot once, in Portland, Oregon, in June 1997. Great concert.
