I think we used to have a thread like this, but maybe it's time for a new one. Anyway I know many of you are creative people, and i've definitely seen some amazing designs on here before *cough earcandy cough*

Let's share our fake album covers!

I just made this one for my Beach Boys collection on itunes, and although its not very good I like it enough! LOL

I don't have my own but I recently was at a bookshop and saw "The Greatest Albums You'll Never Hear" and was stoked to see a Smile album cover I'd never seen before  in the book. Very 60's-ish flower-power-esque design with "Smile" in it's usual font. Though it was pretty cool as I don't see too many alternate Smile covers that differ too much from the original. Sadly, I haven't been able to locate it online since then, seems as though the creators of the book made up an original design. If any of you are mad enough to search for it, I'd be grateful to see the image posted. They had a badass one for The Who's Lifehouse album as well that seems to be an original too.

Ooh perfect, I've wasted more than enough time making crudely photoshopped Beach Boys covers. They're so much fun to do! Haven't made any in a while though. Sad

Classic!  That just made me roar!

We could probably take this thread in a totally different (and wrong!) direction speculating song titles!

That's a beautiful SMiLE album cover you posted Dudd, I absolutely love it! Here are some I've made:

Group Therapy

Break Away

Add Some Music

Pet Sounds (Nothing changed besides track listing!)

Summer's Gone (The original name for the album)

Fun Fun Fun (I couldn't find a high quality scan of the 1980's reissue, so I made my own. It's just a much better album title than Shut Down Volume 2!)

Funny that you should mention the Shut Down Vol.II 80's reissue being named Fun,Fun,Fun, because that was the original name for the album before Shut Down Vol. II according to the Master Tape Boxes for the sessions.

Hah nice. Maybe I didn't try hard enough. Thanks mate - methinks I'll paste this into my Smile cover art. I dig the foresty-looking design as well. Very original.

I thought that Le'id in Hawaii cover was perfect... incredibly well made... looks like its right out of the Capitol design department circa 1967.  I actually have a screen grab of that cover on my phone.

Did you ever do a back cover?

Not exactly an album cover.
But couldn't resist anyway.

Reverberation, Landlocked and L.A. are not mine, just wanted a continuous "alternate discography" gallery! I still need to work on that 1977 Christmas album and 15 Big Rock N' Roll Ones. Cool Guy

not my designs, but I agree on the Lei'd In Hawaii cover. it's great... although the black & white photo doesn't quite fit, in my opinion

Some of these are absolutely brilliant! I'm definitely using them for some of my "homemade albums" on iTunes.  Wink

I really like the idea of a final Beach Boys or Brian Wilson album going full circle with a cover that references the 'Surfin' Safari' cover. Like a "this is where the journey that started with 'Surfin' Safari' ends" thing.
