If each of The Beach Boys were a breed of dog, what would each one be?

Carl would probably be a lab; intelligent, obedient, loyal.  Brian would probably be something like a border collie; absolute genius but with destructive tendencies.  Bruce is obviously a poodle.

Thoughts?

Myke luHv, though not a purebread by any means, would be defined as part Doberman, in that he traditionally and instinctively goes for the jugular.

Not really an answer to your specific question, but here are the Beach Bowsers at Chuck E. Cheese in 1989. My recollection is that the "act" was featured for roughly 10 years or so.

I admit, I laughed but I felt wrong, so wrong.
Bruce is obviously a poodle.

Trying and failing to find online that illustration from Millward's book  which depicts the Boys as animals wading through long grass… Broan's a bear, Al's a duck, Bruce might be a raccoon … I think.

Anyone able to provide a link here?

We'd have been graced with the following songs:

Summeruff Love
Kal Kan Kalling
The Barker Man
Black Labinessence
Catch a Wave (and a Frisbee)
Collie-ving This Town
The Warmth of the Dachshund
Ganz Allein (German Shepherd Version)
Boogie Woofie
Fetcha Back

Holy cow! I find this picture very disturbing...
1) When was it drawn, and why are Dennis and Carl's eyes blacked out? That is very hard to look at.
2) What is up with the flying animals? What is the duck pointing at?
3) Are they on patrol? Like in the Vietnam war?
4) Zoom in on bear Brian's face. That is terrifying.

What the heck is the story behind this picture?

And, I didn't even mention Duck Jardine's face... because that is just too disturbing.

Fabulous, many thanks Allllan; I knew one of the Boys was depicted as a dog but couldn't recall which (just as I couldn't remember the book's author correctly),

(Thanks also for the spec on the turntable you used to capture the image… I didn't know they did that too Wink )

Easy.

All they would have left us with is the ending segment of 'Caroline, No'.

We would have been salivating over the 5CD box of The Louie And Banana Sessions, and countless cover versions by other canine groups, like the 5 Labradors, the Jack Russell Rousers, and the Poodle Pups.

And there would have been that mythical Lassie Project, unfinished but reconstructed a gazillion times by true aficionados.

And we'd all have been trainspotters gone totally bonkers, with an frighteningly detailed knowledge of the sounds of locomotives in action.

My two cents. I'll get me coat then.

 Cheesy

Yup. And a new and highly adventurous road in popular music definitely would have been opened.

Alas, history decided differently, and now we're stuck with Kenny G. forever.

Amazing. I will now forever think of Al Jardine as a duck.
Brian going fishing for ideas while the others are on tour in the tall grasses and flora.
What if the four ducks in the sky were The Beatles
