It's a major media award in Germany, and awarded international artists usually show up in person for the gala ceremony to pick up the award, including Hollywood bigshots. It will be interesting to see whether other band members aside of the touring band will show up on Feb. 6.

Interestingly, the two newspaper websites I've checked chose photos from the 2012 tour to accompany their article.

I doubt it -- Al is on a cruise in the Western Carribean at the time, while the touring band are already in Germany, and I certainly can't see Brian, Mike, and Bruce but not Al turning up.

My first reaction: "God, please have mercy on us! Save us from a duet of the Luvster and Helene Fischer!"  Ahhh!

Hm. I could imagine Hansi Hinterseer duetting with the Lovester on 'Ganz Allein'.

Yo. That's what Moses thought about the Stone Tablets: where's that 11th Commandment? This is it.

Mike and Bruce were there. Anyone care to give a overview of Mikes speech? The translation drowns him out.

Wouldn't have no problem at all if Mike and Bruce were backed acapella by Die Prinzen. Probably the best singing group Germany ever produced. A friend of mine met Sebastian Krumbiegel once at a Brian show btw.

PRO SHOT BEACH BOYS CONCERTS - LIST

To sum it up, they blew it, they blew it consistently, they continue to blow it, it is tragic and this pathological problem caused The Beach Boys' greatest music to be so underrated by the general public.

After repeated listens (recorded the show myself) I think I got most of it. The interpreter makes actually quite a few mistakes, claiming Carl was the lyricist of GOK which Mike didn't say of course.

At first Mike tells something I didn't know yet, that the German translation of "In My Room" into "Ganz allein" was done by a female piano teacher from Germany living "up the road", can't hear whether in Hawthorne or Inglewood. Then he ties in with what was said in the introductory clip, that GOK was Paul McC's favorite song. "The person who sang the lead on GOK is with us every night on stage, even though he passed away in 1998, this day (night?) 18 years ago, so this is for Carl Wilson", thus dedicating the award to Carl. The show was on Feb 6.

His voice though is in really bad shape. I think in the musical segment there even was autotune (or a similar product) on Mike's voice. It wasn't two months ago on the night of the proms show, though it didn't really sound better then.

Not this time around, but Brian was praised in the introductory clip in which Mike and Bruce heavily praise Pet Sounds.

Kind of sucks that they didn't mention Brian in the speech, although I guess they weren't really talking for that long.
