Gosh, didn't see this one coming. Always loved Glenn's singing on "New Kid in Town." RIP Glenn Frey, you'll be greatly missed.

Very sad news. The next few years are going to be rough for fans like me whose favorite music came from that generation.
As a matter of fact, I heard two Beach Boys songs in a row on Saturday, and knowing that no one in the group has a birthday coming up, I searched the net to make sure everyone was ok. Turns out that it was just a twofer.

Life is short and you never know how long we have here on earth. In the words of the late Warren Zevon, "enjoy every sandwich"... RIP Glenn Frey...

That was a great interview - based on his reputation that is not what one would expect.

I knew he had been a bit off kilter for a few years........I'd even in my mind compared him to Mike love........the ML of the eagles........so etimes not nice and instrumental in driving some members out of the band. but knowing now of his steroid treatment and what that can do to the personality of even a good man.....I have a new perspective and empathy....and respect for his perseverance and strength to keep on keepin on.....RIP .

Great, great voice. RIP http://fridaynightboys300.blogspot.co.uk/2016/01/glenn-frey-rip.htmlI used to love them and then, for reasons beyond me, tried not to like for them for a very long time - but I got over that. I'd take them over The Byrds or CSN (but maybe not CSNY) any day of the week.

Yep, all started at the tail end of 2015 with Lemmy. Hope the law of averages kick in soon. Looking at Facebook lately has been like reading the obituaries. Sadly, as a classic rock fan, this type of news is becoming almost as common as new tours and albums.

The Eagles are credited with pioneering a movement in country and rock that forever changed music, but if you ask Frey, he might deny it.
“The Beach Boys were pioneers,” he said. “The Eagles were settlers.”
From an article in CMT News dated October 2013 entitled "Eagles Give a History Lesson"

I think the reality is that the era of mass media and its celebrity multiplying effect is 50-60 years old. In the next few decades, there will be many more famous people dying as there will be many more famous people in their 70's, 80's and 90's.
