This may not be everyone's cup of tea here, but one of the songs from Panic! At The Disco's new album called "Crazy=Genius" includes references to The Beach Boys members in the pre-chorus.

Listen here: https://youtu.be/RcfHV0agfXA

It was a cool little surprise for me when I was listening to the album. For those who don't want to click the link, the lyrics are "She said you're just like Mike Love but you want to be Brian Wilson, Brian Wilson. She said you're just like Mike Love but you'll never be Brian Wilson." The line is repeated again later,  with a slight change at the end "...She said you're just like Mike Love but you'll never be Dennis Wilson".

Wow! I'm pleasantly surprised. I was expecting Fall Out Boy-lite, sounds more like the Cherry Poppin' Daddies with a some Bosstones in the chorus.

I have a major personal beef with their front man Urie, but I will concede that he is quite talented and definitely influenced by The Beach Boys.

Sounds juicy....care to elaborate? - did he steal your parking spot? or your girl?

Not something I'm going to elaborate on here.  Suffice it to say, though, that I will not be throwing any money their way for the foreseeable future.

Check out their debut album 'A Fever you can't sweat out' - it's excellent.

It's not clear to me that it's insulting to Mike Love. It seems that "she" is equating 'crazy' with genius and saying that therefore he should be more Brian Wilsonesque, but I think the song is questioning that. It's not a Mike Love is a jerk song; I think it's a Mike Love is not 'crazy' song.

What a great ear worm. It's been playing in my head all day. Love the Krupa-esque drumming in the beginning, like Sing, Sing, Sing.

Check out Panic's 2008 album "Pretty. Odd."

It's their tribute to 60's pop and psych music, Beatles and Beach Boys references everywhere. "Behind The Sea" is a personal favorite.

That’s the only album of theirs that I can listen to. I may be a millennial, but after that album, I only like the songs “Death of a Bachelor” and “Impossible Year” because of the Sinatra style.

Millenials can & will like archaic music. It means they've, in fact, taste in music - well done, new kids.

No love for A Fever You Can Swear Out? The structures on some of those songs are wicked good. The arrangements are pretty good too, much less organic than Pretty.Odd. but honestly, not a slight as every song on that record has great textures.

Death of a Bachelor is a distant third but yeah, those first two are classics that hold their ground.
