Pre-show music sounds like Perrcy  Faith Strings arrangement like my Granny's FM easy listening stations.

Caught the Horseshoe gig - that's two in one week after the Hollywood Bowl Sunday.  Pretty much identical shows in terms of the sets.  Brian seemed a bit more engaged although he still half way talks through some of the songs with a staccato like meter.  Blonde was awesome, Al was solid.  Matt Jardine is killing the falsetto parts - best I've hear in years.  Good to see Billy Hinche on the keys, too bad he doesn't get to play any guitar in the shows as he can certainly rip it up.  Looked to be sold out with an engaged audience.   Pretty good end to a fantastic week.

I went to the Pitchfork show last night. I knew it would be a condensed set, but I was surprised when they came out and jumped right into Pet Sounds. The band was solid but you could tell Brian was tired.

As a younger fan, it was nice to be at a BW show surrounded by fans closer to my age. Many knew the album well and sang along the whole time, even the instrumental lines (ex: intro to You Still Believe In Me).

Overall a fun show to be at, though I look forward to the indoor shows I am attending in the fall. It was fun seeing John Cusack hanging out along the side of the stage the whole night.

Brian introduced The Little Girl I Once Knew by saying that the first two notes sounded "Chinese," but not to worry because the rest of the song was "American."

Looks like the Indiana show got a full-length setlist (39 including "River Deep"), then they did an extremely short setlist at Pitchfork, perhaps the shortest setlist of the tour, and then in Iowa they did a longer but still truncated setlist (assuming it's correct on setlist.fm.

Sometimes (though less so than the olden days), casino shows are required to be shorter. Since both the Indiana and Iowa shows were "Horseshoe Casino" shows, it's a bummer they did such a shortened show in Iowa. Perhaps if you get the band on the third or fourth night in a row, you sometimes get a shorter setlist. The festival gigs being shorter makes sense, but it's a bummer when two nearly-identical venues two days apart get drastically different length shows.

I figured Pet Sounds would be at the beginning but no complaints really except for the rules forbidding taking photos I was satisfied. A very enjoyable evening.

I'm not sure what the status is, but the 7/23 show is no longer asterisked on Brian's website as only featuring Blondie, and the date is listed on Al's website. So perhaps be *may* make it to this gig? Certainly no guarantees.

Wish I knew for sure, as I have tickets for Tunica and Bossier City and it will be difficult getting to both. I haven't gotten word when sound check is on Saturday - for an 8 pm show would it be around 3 or 3:30?
If Al was going to be there on Saturday I would try to give up my Tunica ticket, a really good seat close to the stage at a pretty good price, and instead drive to Bossier City on Friday, spend the night, relax and be refreshed for the concert on Saturday.

(It would probably take up to 8 hours to get to Tunica, then over 7 hours to Bossier City. Guess I'm a crazy fan for even considering doing this!)

Cool that Chicago fans have a non-festival show option. It will presumably be a longer show as well.

I've added the date to the top post.

David's site now lists Dean Torrence for his private gig. Looking like a change for sure.

Man, this makes my day if true.  I was really bummed thinking Al wouldn't be there at the show.  Now fingers crossed for a full setlist.

No -just playing it over the PA before the show starts.

I think "Guess I'm Dumb" has been a part of their "pre-show PA tape" for awhile now. I recall hearing it last year at both gigs I saw. It's a cool mix of songs, predictably heavy on 60s pop curios and whatnot.

My guess would be that they weren't allowed to announce it due to their contract with the festival. That's fairly common for any headlining act.

I too found the timing of the announcement to be likely more than a coincidence. It does create a difficult situation for fans who can only budget for one show. A non-festival show is typically going to be a better concert-going experience and will also usually yield at least a slightly longer setlist.

I think it's good and important for Brian to do festivals; it's good cred with the younger crowd.
