Yes, thanks for the great review, Emily!  I have to say, my daughter, probably similar age as yours, also really enjoyed the show.  This is a great tour for kids!

Thanks from me too for the review Emily. Good reviews really add to the experience and enable those of us who can't be there in person to at least get an idea of what it was like.

Nice comments about the band as well. Not just great as a team but wonderful individual talents.

The ones I posted yesterday were from the sound check. These are from the concert.

It seems I missed Von Mertens in my photos :-(

A few more comments:
-Rocket, I wasn't making reference to your review particularly - but there are lots of reviews on here from people who have obviously seen this band and the Beach Boys touring band many times, which is so cool.
-I'm so glad to see fans in the teens and 20s joining this board.
-I mentioned the individual prowess of the band members, but as a team they're really tight. Sometimes it looked like Mike D'Amico and Nelson Bragg (am I identifying the band members correctly?) were in some kind of psychedelic synchronized drum corps, fast, flying, flailing arms in perfect unison hammering away. This was most remarkable in Waiting for the Day. The guitars wrapped around each other in a really smooth, complex dialog. They obvious practice the hell out of this ...
-Honkin' Down the Highway is apparently a source of great humor among the band. In sound check Brian sang it in a strange high-pitched jokey nasal voice. Then they made fun for a bit. Then Al sang it in the same voice while everyone chuckled. As Rocket said, in the concert Brian and Al took turns disclaiming responsibility for the song.
-When Von Mertens introduced the band members, each came out on stage to a few bars of a different song, like the batters at a baseball game. These snippets were played with as much oomph as the 'real' songs. I was paying attention to the people and missed what most of the songs were, but I noticed the opening bars of Hey Bulldog that was an explosion of energy.
That's about it.
When my phone is done updating its OS, I'll take some pictures of the poster and music sheet that came with the VIP package and the program.
The program has a lot of pictures from photo shoots from the Pet Sounds era. Most of them I've seen one or two pictures from, but not all that were in the program.
It also has a lot of accolade quotes, most notably a very long one from Pete Townshend, that I've never read before. If anyone's interested, I can transcribe them.

I'm getting a little spammy with the pictures. Sorry. Here are a bunch from the program:

I'm so jealous of Brian Wilson for getting to have this adorable fox on his shoulder:

And lastly, from the VIP package, a poster and a page of music. My daughter tried to give them instructions on where to sign and was shocked to find out she doesn't get to boss them around the way she does me. She was very perturbed that Blondie signed right across the music.

I'm done spamming now. If anyone has any particular questions about the program, I'll check back here.
Also, at the merchandise counter they had Help Me Rhonda baseball shirts.

Emily - If this is spam, it's the best I've ever seen.  Thanks for the wonderful photos and sharing the great stuff in the VIP pkg.

When I commented in my post about the reviews from fans who have been to tons of concerts, I wasn't referencing anyone specific either.  There are so many here, including me, who have been to so many shows.  I appreciate those reviews as well, of course and love many of them - but your "younger fan" view is really, really refreshing to many of us.  I was just realizing that I was very close to your daughter's age when I first saw Brian in concert, 52 years ago.  Needless to say, there have been quite a few shows since.

A 9/24 show at the Beacon Theatre in NYC has been added.

I'm seeing him 9/23 and 9/25. Hope he won't be too tired!

Looks like Billy Hinsche will be in the band for the UK and a bit after that. He's saying May 15 to June 20.

Given what we know now, it looks like Billy will be replacing Scott permanently, probably switching off with Gary Griffin depending on their availability.

On our way through this "backstage" maze, Bruce joined up with the group and said hello, singing "It Never Rains in Southern California" and joking with some of the older ladies. I'm not sure if they knew he was a Beach Boy or simply an enthusiastic elderly gay gentleman.

Happy to say that I will be seeing Brian and company at the Northside Festival in Brooklyn next month.  The other acts that day are Rostam, a member of Vampire Weekend and Hinds, an all-girl band that I am unfamiliar with.  Kacey Musgraves will be performing on a different day of the festival but I hope based on her presence that she'll show up in Brian's set and perform "Guess You Had to Be There" for the very first time.  That would be pretty awesome.

I wasn't a huge fan of that track (didn't dislike it either), but I'm always into Brian doing something, anything to change up the show a little bit. Random performances of "I'm Broke", stuff like that. Working the Musgraves track in as a duet would be a cool change-up.

According to BBFC, Brian will be playing the New York State Fair on Monday August 29th. This hasn't been officially confirmed yet, but it makes sense. Additionally, Brian is supposedly playing at the Chevy Court, meaning the show will be completely free - just need a ticket to get into the NYS Fair, which would be at most $10.

I live in Syracuse, so I'm particularly excited about this. Herman's Hermits are scheduled to play the Chevy Court at 2 PM that day (http://nysfair.ny.gov/venue/chevy-court/) and as such Brian would be playing the 8 PM slot.

Interesting. I'll add the 8/29 show to the top post. It's quite a varied tour; outdoor sheds, indoor theaters, casinos, a couple of fairs, and then huge outdoor hipster festivals.

Emdeeh - I really like the program. There's a lot of text, great pictures, and it's a good quality printing.

Presumably scheduling conflicts with Scott's new side project; Prison.
