I thought I would start a thread on Brian’s 2016 tour dates. I suppose I’ll lump all of the “legs” together for now.

With the exception of one benefit show, it appears that all shows are being billed as "Pet Sounds 50th Anniversary" shows, featuring the full "Pet Sounds" album in one set, along with a second set of additional songs. (Setlists will of course vary in length; the multi-act "festival" gigs Brian is playing in particular may feature shorter setlists).

Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin are noted in the tour's press release as joining the tour, but their appearance at every tour stop may not be certain.

Please of course correct any mistakes below and post with any additional shows that pop up.

March 29,2016 - Sydney, Australia - Sydney Opera House, Concert Hall

The gap is dates between the Sydney (29 March) and Melbourne (April 3) potentially means other dates could be added, possibly adding a Brisbane show or extra shows in Sydney and/or Melbourne. Sydney show is almost sold out.

Newcastle and Wollongong shows are also possibilities.

I never got the impression doing a full old album in concert was going to be a regular thing. He did two years of "Smile" touring in a row. Other than a small number of PS 40th anniversary shows and a couple random performances of PS on the 2013 tour,  he hasn't done any old albums in full in concert since then. I would imagine, if Brian is still touring in 2017, they might try for a 50th Smile tour. Would be cool to finally hear Al sing on some of the "Smile" stuff (beyond the stuff that's already in Brian/BB setlists).

Keep in mind 2017 could be regarded as Smile's anniversary… as could 2021… and 2024…

March 28, 2016 – Tyagarah, Australia – Tyagara Tea Tree Farm (Bluesfest)

Interestingly, Brian happens to be sharing the bill for this gig with (amongst a million other acts) a fellow goes by the name of Mike Love  LOL

Not our Mike Love of course, just some guy with a beard offering healing and inspiration through his music.

Great! Last night Blondie went on and on about how much he enjoyed the present tour and that he'd love to keep on going.
So now it looks to be confirmed - Blondie and Al.
Hate to be greedy as some of you missed seeing the group this year, but hope and pray I can somehow see them at least one more time

First time I've seen this mentioned as "Final performance in its entirety" or have I just been out of the loop?

Pretty sure it's been mentioned before on there.

At the risk of apperaing an a**hole, does anyone who bought tickets to the 'final' performances in 2006 now feel shafted?

Mr. Wilson has said that this tour will be the last that includes full performances of "Pet Sounds."

I would never feel shafted for buying tickets to see BW (unless he came out, performed one song, then left).

Besides, that was over 9 years ago...did anyone really think he'd be still performing in this 70s?

I never expected him to be performing in his 40s!

Still.....A pitch was made in 2006 and now reneged. Didn't a certain lead singer get some negative comment in 2012 and for 3 years since after actually keeping his word?

I wonder what they mean by rare cuts?  Probably just PR spin, but it would be cool to bring out some stuff they rarely do.

I agree with you completely.  Anytime you get to see Brian Wilson perform, it's a gift.

Much as I welcome another tour of Pet Sounds I cant help but think id love to see and hear another tour of SMILE.. .This subject never comes up and im not pooh poohing  the new PS tour.. I wonder if BW is avoiding the issue.. It has been over 10 yrs since SMILE was played live.. Just sayin and asking..

I agree. I regret not seeing the SMiLE shows in 2004. I console myself with playing the Live show from the Brian Wilson Presents SMiLE DVD every now and then .(Wow...Currently $99 on Amazon!)

I just don't think it's a particularly actionable offense. Dunno if the statute of limitations would allow for suing Brian or his tour promoter for a 2006/2007 incident.

And actually, when the November 2006 tour dates were announced as the "last" PS tour, that was before the three January 2007 dates were announced. So he may have reneged on that mere months later. And, as others have mentioned, they did the full PS album on at least two dates on the 2013 tour. Does that count? It wasn't a PS tour.

I'd also be curious to know if any actual promotional materials (as opposed to Brian or someone else just saying in interviews or conversation that it was the last PS tour) such as posters for those 40th anniversary dates actual stated it was the final PS tour.

My question is, how many fans went to those PS 40th shows SOLELY because it was the last performance? So if they would have left that *one* detail out, and everything else was the same, are there people that wouldn't have gone?

But no, I don't feel shafted having gone to one of the Brian/Al PS shows in January 2007, and if someone really complains about how a show was promoted a decade ago because Brian is doing *another* tour now, then they indeed would not probably get a lot of empathy.

Live shows generally have to warranty very little as far as setlist and things like that. Pretty much, if you buy a ticket for an artist and the artist shows up and performs something on stage, they're covered. Countless bands have said a tour is their last tour and then gone on to do more.

I'll get my own hat.....

I never saw Mike walking out on the reunion as "keeping his word." He never *promised* to NEVER do another reunion show. Going back to a previous status quo isn't really keeping one's word.

There was a Rolling Stone article back in 1999 or 2000, concerning the injunctions against Al's "Family & Friends" and whatnot, where it was either Elliott Lott or one of BRI's attorneys stating that Mike only had a few years of touring left (the implication being that his license shouldn't be infringed upon because he only had a few years of income left to generate from the license). That was 15 or 16 years ago.

Clearly, all of these guys have had more longevity than even they themselves thought they would 15 or 20 years ago.
