http://usat.ly/1Hcyt7vSo, as many of you know, Jonathan Pollard was released from prison today. For those of you who don't know who he is, he was famously convicted in 1985 for passing classified information to Israel, the Soviet Union, South Africa, and Pakistan. Many are hailing his release as long overdue. From where I sit, his release was nothing more than political; a pathetic attempt to save face.
Pollard's actions did nothing but contribute to a perception that American Jews can't be trusted. That's not someone you want to be free. Of course, once you add in the fact that he sold secrets to some openly hostile nations at the time he's no longer a martyr for his hallucinated Jewish cause; he's merely a gross opportunist. He was only released because people in Washington wanted to save face with Likud in the wake of the Iran negotiations.
