Was Murry aware of Joe Jackson and his infamous parenting/managing ways of the Jackson 5 kids?

I'm not sure how infamous Joe was in Murry's own lifetime (pre-July 1973), but it seems that Murry would have applauded Joe's tactics if they were known at the time.  That is, unless Murry was somehow able to criticize other parents for the same abusive things that he himself did.

For that matter, I wonder how aware Joe Jackson was/is of Murry, and the undeniable similarities between the groups and their tyrannical father managers. At this point, one would think Murry and his ways would at least have registered a blip on Joe Jackson's radar, or on the radar of one or more of the Jackson children.

I'm pretty sure Joe was not yet infamous.

And of course there's Bud Cowsill. Didn't I once hear Richard Cowsill that he correctly assumed that going to Vietnam would be easier than dealing with the old man???
