Saw that the other night and nearly fell over laughing. I've been waiting for this to hit the Smiley Airwaves...

It was a commercial for CVS (A pharmacy in the U.S. for those who don't know.) It talked about part D medicaid plans and ended with two elderly ladies being so relieved that they went to a nude beach.
Oh, and the commercial was the INSTRUMENTAL for California Girls. Just weird all over.

Guessing it's this same commercial being referenced. Shocking news! Beach Boys fans disagree! http://smileysmile.net/board/index.php/topic,22918.0.html

No we don't. So "great commercial," "fell over laughing," and "truly funny" aren't in disagreement with "worst use"? OK. Seems like a disagreement to me. EDIT: if you were joking (as in, disagreeing with my statement about disagreements), that's funny. And I'm an idiot for not catching it.

I saw the commercial but I'm too dense to even get the point. In general though I always like it when they use Beach Boys music in things, because I know the boys are making money and more people are getting to hear their wonderful music!

I've seen it on TV a few times. I think each time I completely ignored the commercial, and just grooved to the real authentic wrecking crew backing track.

And I completely got the pharmacy wrong. Ouch. I do that ALL THE TIME! I'm explaing a cool commercial I saw to somebody, but can't for the life of me remember what the commercial's... you know... actually advertising! They probably should do a better job branding in some of these, but what do I know.

I just saw this ad for the first time. I thought it was cute. "California Girls" used for older women going to a nude beach. And I thought using the instrumental was a nice, subtle choice that also highlights Brian's arrangement skills. That song is so recognizable that I'm sure many non-BB fans will ID it.

This old Dutch ad must vie with it for sheer inanity: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xmVfzGAYfgo

Rule of thumb, think BEFORE you post. And THINK how it may affect someone else's feelings. Check out the Beach Boys Starline website, the place for pictures of many countries Beach Boys releases on 45. Listening to you I get the music; Gazing at you I get the heat; Following you I climb the mountain; I get excitement at your feet Right behind you I see the millions; On you I see the glory; From you I get opinions; From you I get the story

I'm forced to agree with you----tampons, for goodness' sake. Although surely the most gruesome use of a BB song in our part of the world was on Belgian TV (Canvas) when the original "Good Vibrations" was used in a trailer for a programme about... vibrators.

Wow, the "I Get Around" ad is terrifically bad.
I suspected what it was advertising at the beginning (why was there a need to show a woman coping on a bicycle in the 80s when she was ... otherwise afflicted?) but then the guy and the dog threw me right off.
Until explained above, I thought it was selling chewing gum, or maybe aspirin.
