Pretty good list.  Although, personally, I'd remove the modern Top 40 material (Calvin Harris, Nicki Manaj, etc), but overall, it's a good list.

I take it you're not a Jimmy Buffett fan?

You are Mr. Country Love.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Ooh, nice list. If you enjoy the Kooks then "Seaside" might be an even better beachy song, as implied by its name Tongue. I also think it's fun to drive to some classic rock... AC/DC, ELO, Foreigner, or something like that. "Guns Out" by Young the Giant is another good summer driving song.

I wouldn't say I'm not a fan, just not real familiar with his work and the only song I kept finding in summer-ish type song lists was "margaritaville." And while its a good song, I wanted all, or at least tried to have all upbeat, happy songs for the ride. If you have any suggestions of his, I'd love to check them out!

And, yeah, I thought some might be a little off put by some of the modern material I included, but I'm ridiculously eclectic. You should see the looks on the faces of my co-workers when my Ipod goes from Brooks & Dunn to Iggy Azalea to Three Days Grace to The Beach Boys, one right after the other. Haha!

If you're looking for some upbeat Buffett material, I can suggest:

One Particular Harbour
Cheeseburger in Paradise
Fins
Landfall
Boat Drinks
Holiday
Fruitcakes
It's Five O Clock Somewhere (actually an Alan Jackson song featuring Buffett)
Volcano

There's plenty more, but that's a good starter for him.  I tend to gravitate to his more laid back stuff ie. Son of a Sailor, A Pirate Looks at Forty, etc.

Thanks! I actually have "Seaside" on my Ipod, but haven't listened to it in so long I didn't think to add it! Added now, though.

I've never heard of Young the Giant, but I'll definitely check out the song and I actually use a lot of classic rock on my normal roadtrip playlists. Just wanted to keep the theme for this one to beachy music because of the destination.

Thanks for the suggestions! The only one I've heard before is the one by Alan Jackson, but I'll be checking the others out for sure, only 319 days to go till the next beach vacation. Haha!

Sounds good.  I just got back from my last trip to the beach this summer.  So, I put my Buffett CDs on the shelf for another year.

That makes sense! If you're looking for beachy music, then Real Estate and Two Door Cinema Club's first album would be my other suggestions Grin

edit: links apparently not working. i thought i'd make life easier by showing you the songs I had in mind. Whoops!

Scratch Katy Perry and Florida Georgia Line from the list and you'll be alright.

Listening to A Sea of Split Peas right now, and I feel like it's quite befitting to the extremely and unusually warm weather we've been having. Summer vibes came a little early this year.

Beach music band Catalinas - Summertime's callin' me.
The Young Rascals - Groovin'. For some reason, I used to think it's sung by a black singer.
