Hi,

I enjoyed Cliched Phrases. Nice song, nice vocals, and some of the harmonies are lovely. I thought that maybe some of the harmonies could do with a just bit more work in terms of the notes you chose to sing and/or the way you sang them. I'm no master at this sort of thing, its just the impression I got. I wish I could refresh my memory and say which bits, but the site isn't working at present.

Could you arrange for the songs to be downloadable, and not just streamable?

Also, if you put your link like this WWW.MYSPACE.COM/ORANJULY it would be fractionalluy easier to access! Smiley N.B. Its the button with the world on it... Smiley

I did listen to the other songs too, but I thought CPs was the best. I like your voice!

Have you heard of, Of Montreal?

"Hiroshige's Japan" reminds me of them somewhat.

I liked the songs alot.

Drum Machine?

haha.  Yes, casio keyboard drums. Everything else is organic, even the harpsichord on "Hiroshige's Japan".   There is a lot of EQ on those drums, but I think they sound pretty good in context of the songs.  I would love a drum set, but unfortunately, they won't fit in a dorm room.

Thanks for the feedback guys.  "Cliched Phrases" was an older song, that I redid some parts over.  I'm not too happy about it, but I'll probably re-record it sometime.

Both the drums and harpsichord's sound good. Makes me wonder why I even have a drummer. The only reason why I noticed the keyboard drums was because of their simple parts. Drummers tend to think a song should be crammed with fills and junk all over the track.

Good drummers don't.  Maybe you should wonder why you don't have a good drummer?

Same Difference,

You are just too good man.

Love the chords.

The voice.

The guitar solo's.

That very cool way you pull off your songs.

And your vocal resemblence to the singer of Of Montreal is just uncanny.

I like.

I think this is pretty tight stuff. I like your arrangements with the instruments. Cliched Phrases is my favorite...I even like the title. got a nice sibilence to it...good work..

Hey guys, it's been a while, but I finished a 10 song LP. I want to get it out there and distribute it either online or whatever...any advice?

Also,
there are new songs up now, check them all out, I'm most proud of "The Wave Goodbye" it sounds like BW meets Pink Floyd or something....any feedback or comments would be awesome!

'Wave Goodbye' was excellent.

How did you record your album?

I'll listen to more in a bit when I have time.

I recorded the album using a Boss digital 8-track (BR-864). It took me maybe 3 years to really learn how to use the damn thing, but after I eventually did, I love it. There were no computers used in the process at all which is pretty cool I guess.

Fantastic cover! You should put somewhere on the page that it's from The Beach Boys. It could turn more people onto the variety of music they have. This cover just made me realise how much Weezer were influenced by everything the Beach Boys did.

Anyway, interesting and great cover. Only spotted one seriously bum note in the harmony :D

So what's the instrument line up you have now? Real drums yet?

You should put the harpsichord on some songs whenever you have something suitable. I remember the songs you posted a long time ago which featured a harpsi on one of them and it was great.

Nope no real drums, but the drum machine I use sounds amazingly real, so I'm sticking with that for as long as I can. I wish I could use a real harpsichord more, but to use the one I used before I had to sneak into the music room at my college (I graduated yesterday) and quickly use it....otherwise, I would use it all the time...

I DID get a vocoder though...a microkorg to be exact. It's awesome.

Thanks for the support, it means a lot!

I have a few new songs up and another Beatles cover. Leave some comments please.
I hope Beach Boys fans will appreciate "The Wave Goodbye." Think BW meets Dark Side of The Moon.....especially at the tag of the song.
