Source of DJ record-scratching sound effects in Summer of Love?

Were the record-scratching sounds in Summer of Love sampled from some other song?
Or was this sound effect created specifically for SOL?

The scratches were from an extremely rare acetate of the second movement of Surf's Up that was destroyed in the process - it was that fragile. Or it knew what song it was being used for.

Beg to differ... the scratches on Wipeout and SOL are clearly different
Seriously!
SOL is so fun to marvel at from so many levels, but I do wonder if a DJ actually made those scratches just for the song.

No quota, I simply post a thread if a topic of BB conversation comes to mind.

You would think with Al being so much of a problem with his negative attitude they would not have let him make the scratches!

It was all part of an elaborate scheme to hide extremely rare and/or storied Smile material in Summer in Paradise.

That will all be available again on the SIP 50th anniversary when they unearth the time capsule

Mike will also be unearthing his lost masterpiece "Masterpiece" when the time capsule is unearthed. After a tour of "Summer In Paradise," he'll turn his eye toward his long lost work "Masterpiece." After a successful live tour of his great lost work, he'll be releasing a studio album called "Mike Love Presents MASTERPiECE" to critical acclaim.

Actually, I have read all of the informational nuggets here... and they are all wrong. I have it on good authority that the record slide effect on the track in question actually came from the multi-tracks for Take A Load Off Your Feet. The foot skipping sound was electronically re-processed to resemble a DJ album scratch.
Glad I could help.

It was the first time the actual sound of failure was captured using ProTools in a studio.

It was the sound of the entire planet scratching it's collective head as to why Mike thought it would be a great idea for Stamos to sing a classic Dennis song.

Well, to be fair, at least it was given to a fan to sing as opposed to some indie hipster.

Right, would that have been before or after the deal to have Bart Simpson sing/rap with the band fell through?

If the Bart idea had come to fruition, would the song have been featured on "The Simpsons Sing the Blues"? Was it rejected from that specific project and then reformulated into SOL? I totally owned the tape of this.

Also, I guess nobody knows the answer to my original question? Although a silly question, I really am curious to know if anyone has any real potential answers!

It's so striking that even at a beach party the Beach Boys look like total dorks.
