According to Brian, Mike and the band didn't like Pet Sounds. Who always had Brian's back? Dennis and Carl?

Brian has 5 controls covering 50 years; in decades (of course, w/ some overlap):

50's Murry
60's Mike
70's Marilyn
80's Mlandy
90's Melinda

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

you are correct, sir.  And that is what makes his need so confounding !
Brian has enjoyed and needed a vast array of collaborators from the get go, too numerous to enumerate.
Brian has also required the 5 controllers for over 55 years.

Just saw the segment...

Highlights the roadblocks of a person trying to extricate a patient from a charlatan doctor who has court-ordered authority.
Landy exceeded that authority.

The AG couldn't intervene (or maybe didn't want to do an investigation) without family involvement.

Balanced explanation from Melinda, saying the "band" was probably at the "end of their rope." In those decades the resources were fewer and farther between.

The court appeared to appoint Landy in "good faith."

This movie, is not about The Beach Boys. It is a universal story from which we can all learn.  If Brian was "Joe the plumber" under the legal and physical control of a bad doctor, the same steps would need replication.  It took the manipulation of a professional caregiver "unduly influencing" a patient (whether Brian or Joe the plumber) to become a primary beneficiary of the will.  Landy expanded his scope beyond the medical (and I use that loosely) insinuating himself in Brian's music business.

And can't wait, I don't agree with your theoretical "decades" of control. It disrespects Brian, who may be verbally quiet (somtimes!) but who misses nothing, onstage, so please don't confuse "quiet" with "passivity."

See The Wrecking Crew movie or listen to the very entertaining "Hawthorne" sessions...Brian is in charge, all right.  Wink

Do you have any proof that he is being controlled, or that he 'requires' control right now, or are you just trolling?

I'd bet Marilyn would disagree that she had control of Brian. I'm guessing there'd have been a lot less drugs after the kids were born..

Kenny Rogers sang the line "you got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em".

The "controllers" thing...fold 'em. It's a losing hand.

Yes, can we get back to the Morning News?  I slept in this morning and missed it.  I'd like to know more about what was discussed.

Cool!  Thanks for the link!  There's also video of the program on there.

I think this is the most relaxed I've ever seen Brian in an interview.
