Dennis was broke and homeless when he died and I'd be shocked if David Marks was worth $20 million

If you can't find anything on Ricky, Google the net worth of Stig O'Hara.

Dennis was in dire straits for sure Dec 28-83, but his royalties and credits and vote had value.

30 for Bruce is not too shabby.

- i could use an extra $30M

Does anybody really put any stock in those numbers? Even the hugely-publicized celebrities whose net worth is published are usually probably totally incorrect. They use a ton of guesswork, rounding, and comparisons to get those numbers. Some are probably too high, some too low. If I were, say, David Marks and my net worth was far lower than that, I'd be pretty annoyed to read someone saying I have way more money than I actually do.

I'm waiting for someone to resurrect the "What if the Beach Boys had been born female?" thread next...

What would Brian be worth if Murry hadn't sold the publishing?

What are Gary Usher, Tony Asher, Gregg Jakobson, Stephen Kalinich, Blondie Chaplin and VDP worth?

I'd be surprised if David were worth $20 million, unless he won the lottery since the publication of The Lost Beach Boy, which made him out to look like if his only income were from his Beach Boys royalties, he'd be earning just a fairly modest living, like maybe $40k a year.

i have been told that David's work, all in, netted almost $1,000.00 weekly, making your estimate very close.

not bad for a 14 yr old.  You could build on that if you are clever.

Exactly: in an interview promoting his last, and outstanding, solo album, Croz noted with considerable hilarity that said site claimed he was worth about $20 million and if that was so, why was he driving a six-year-old car and recording the album in his son's home studio ?

If David (Marks) is truly worth the same sum, he's doing a fine, fine job of hiding it.  Cheesy

If he owned his own publishing 1962-69, yes. But he doesn't. Thanks, Murry.

I'll see that and raise you "what if The Beach Boys had never been born ?". Well, for one thing my life would be a whole mess simpler, and my bank balance much healthier.  Smiley

Songwriting royalties are where the money is (or was)...I don't see how the f*** Al would have more dough than Bruce based on that. That said I don't know why anyone would care either way either. None of the guys are starving, they're all very comfortable and for all they've done over the years, so they should be.

I send these guys a few dollars every week. Assuming everyone on this board does the same (except for our token downloader), then each Beach Boy must be earning at least $23.62 a year. Not bad for a band that hasn't released any new work since 2012.

Thing is, that ain't enough to live on, so what does everyone reckon they do as a day job?

I reckon:

Brian delivers pizzas

Al takes in ironing

Dave sweeps driveways (shovels snow in winter)

Bruce speaks at political rallies

Mike pumps gas

Al was i believe (in the 1970's at least) very successful in breeding and raising Arabian Horses (a very lucrative Business) , and if I recall there was a comment in the 70's that because of this Business he saw the BB's as a hobby to him.

Am I also correct in saying that Bruce is worth more than all the other guys put together due to a family bequest.

I Write the Songs probably makes Bruce more money then all of Al's songwriting credits combined.
