Huh, that's too bad.  He's a good writer and clearly has a great understanding of Brian.  I wonder why it didn't work out.

Frank Sinatra used to almost always hand over a hundred-dollar bill for a tip....but then again, being a singer or musician ain't quite as lucrative as it could be in Frank's time.

But anyway, this is a very good article.

Jason Fine seems like a really great guy, really captures the essence of Brian and his sense of humor.

Very excited for the book now  Grin

But given the question /answer above( and quoted below) , isn't Jason Fine OUT as the author?

Question about Jason Fine and the forthcoming I AM BRIAN WILSON biography.  Brian recently mentioned that they 'had some guy writing it but he crapped out and now they have someone else helping him (Brian) write it', I'm paraphrasing.  Is Jason Fine still the guy writing I AM BRIAN WILSON or do we not really know?

I presume since he continues to pen articles and interview BW that means "yes".

My understanding is, not.

Is that based on anything other than Brian's recent, somewhat unclear statement?

I was thinking the same thing. The article mentions them walking in the park in the winter time so perhaps this was written several months ago.

But it also mentions the current tour being iminent.

Yes.

BTW, I though Brian saying "we had to get someone new" was pretty clear.  Smiley

1. Brian hanging out on a park bench with the interviewer. An older woman walks by and says "Hi Brian!". He says "Hey, man!" back and then whispers to the journalist "Do you think she's foxy?"

There was an interview a few years ago where he was on a plane flirting with the woman sitting next to him, and it was hilarious.  He asked her what her pants were made out of, or something similarly ridiculous.

I know it's not exactly a state secret here, and that it was published in a UK Sunday supplement maybe six, seven years ago... but naming at least two LA locations where you're very likely run into Brian any given day in a national music magazine doesn't strike me as being exactly responsible journalistic practise.

Loved this bit of BW wisdom:

Quote
With 11 minutes left in the second half, the Thunder are down by 10. "We might be f***ed, honey," Brian says. Then Dylan's team makes a late run, partly fueled by Dylan's two clutch free throws, and the Thunder win in overtime.

Dakota and Dash jump up and down, and Dylan rushes to hug his dad. "See, Dylan," Wilson says. "If you stick with it, things work out in the end. Not always, but sometimes."

Is he paraphrasing Homer?

Yeah, but then the article was linked in BW's Facebook account. So he and his people must be ok with it.

Nice video interview with Jason Fine accompanying the story.

Out of curiousity - is the kid at around 3:50 of the video one of Brian's adopted sons? I'm assuming so  Grin

Amazing article btw. I've always wanted an article on Brian's daily life and now we have it. I did find it a bit creepy to list out places Brian visits on a daily basis, but I suppose the family doesn't mind. The part with Brian at his son's basketball game was hilarious, as was the "Foxy lady" part. Very nice stuff. Hopefully more of this stuff is in the upcoming book. That said, I'm buying it regardless.

That was the Jason Fine article in RS about the C50 tour.  He told her that he was in a group called The Beach Boys.

That is really disappointing.  After this article, combined with Fine's article on the C50 I was really looking forward to the book.

Brian is quoted saying the writer "crapped out".  That suggests to me a possible fear of litigation IMO

I get the feeling we're trying to stir up drama that isn't actually there.  Not that that would be anything new for this forum.  Grin

I read your first sentence and was about to respond when I read your second sentence and saw that you'd beaten me to it. How come you're so fast?

Maybe Jason Fine writes things he should otherwise miss out!  Shame, he's not working on he autobiography now because his articles have been great and illuminating.
