Anybody, besides me, going to the July 25th show?

I was about to ask if anyone was going to either of the last two summer shows. Please report setlist and other details!

Anyone here going to the Canadian date on the 24th?

Last shows of a tour can be special. Then again, Brian is playing aa show the night before in a different Country. He may be tired.

In any event, I will file a report and note any special additions to the setlist.

Unfortunately that show was announced AFTER I had bought my plane tickets. I'll be flying out 2 days beforehand  Sad
That is a bummer! Atleast you caught them in Seattle.

Welcome back ORR. Stick around. Enjoy having you here on the board.

And production aside, I’d so much rather hear a 14 year old David Marks shred some guitar on Chug-a-lug than hear a 51 year old Mike Love sing about bangin some chick in a swimming pool.-rab2591

Took me a while to "sober up". Luckily, I was accepted and treated at OSD's "The Dewey Weber Center for Alcohol and Gambling Addiction". Now if I just can get in and out of Brian's July 25th casino show without a relapse.  Tongue

Welcome back indeed!

Shame casino's are such popular places for bands to play. Gambling is just awful.

Brought it up with my wife at the breakfast table the morning after the Seattle show.  She looked at me like I was crazy.  Tickets still avail as of that morning.  haven't looked since.

The show on the 24th in Richmond, BC would be a good one to check out. Right off the highway, just outside of Vancouver.

TINY auditorium. Like, tv studio sized. Sometime around 9-10 years ago I caught Brian's unplugged show - the ones with Gary Griffin, Probyn (on bass) and Jeffrey. Up until this recent tour, I've never seen Brian so animated and loosey goosey on stage. No teleprompter as well!

Anyway, kind of a small setting for such a big band. If you'd like an up close concert experience it'd be worth your while!

I feel stupid for not realizing Brian was performing in Oregon. What's wrong with me? If I didn't have to work (and I can't take the night off) I would go. It bums me out.

How did this get past me?

I would have missed it too if I weren't on the mailing list (saw 'Yes" there last year and Chris Issak the year before.). Sorry you are missing it Bud :-(

It is amazing how that big hotel books up in the summer. I'd keep checking for cancelations.

The last two shows on July 24 and 25 were announced well after the rest of the tour had been announced, so it's understandable to have missed out on that announcement.

It's also slightly odd tour scheduling, to do 18 shows and then a 12-day break before the last two shows. I wonder if they were originally hoping to fill those 12 days in with a few other shows.

I wonder if there will be any shake ups to the setlists for the later shows this month, or the fall shows.

Personally, I wish The Little Girl I Once Knew had stayed in the set over You're So Good to Me.

I like to think that in these 12 days off they: 1. take a few days rest   2.Hang out in a rehearsal studio hacking away on material for the Rock 'n' Roll cd !  Cool

It was kinda surprising to see them come back up to the PNW for two shows after aleady being up here. Maybe they decided they wanted to keep going, and this time, the lead singer said yes.  Grin

Ray Lawlor posted a number of times explaining what Jeff Foskett did and didn't do while he was with Brian, and during which eras different people helped Brian out in different roles. Not sure whether "caretaker" is the best term to use. I don't think Brian went out and found a literal "replacement Jeff", other than in a musical sense of finding falsetto replacements.

I'd say on stage, Al surprisingly fills a bit of a Foskett-esque role as far as being in a physical/literal sense Brian's right-hand man (or I guess he's on Brian's left technically).

Hey Jude ; thanks ; I wanted to speak up and say there is no "caretaker" and I agree with your comment that it is not the best term to use ; Brian does have a personal assistant as do countless other people in the entertainment industry, and for those of us who saw this tour , it was fairly apparent that he does not require any backup support on stage. Jeff was ultimately replaced on stage and studio by Matt Jardine, who has done a stellar job on both the falsetto parts , as well as the lead vocals he has been handed.  There was great interplay between Brian and Al , the by product of knowing each other since high school I would think ; there was a great rapport with Blondie as well, and Brian loves his vocals as well as energy. The band,as I have said several times is the best in the world, in my opinion ,  kicked it up another notch on this tour; I think , feeding off a Brian Wilson that quite frankly , most of us had not seen before.

To piggyback on that last sentence...Brian has seemed so much more confident and outgoing on this tour than, well, *ever* onstage. The band's chemistry is outstanding, and it shows. Brian himself has gained a swagger that many of us never expected, and it's been quite exciting and heartwarming to see.

Shame casino's are such popular places for bands to play. Gambling is just awful.

My complaint with casino shows is that they pretty much always make the band do a shorter show.  The casinos are so greedy that can't even let you enjoy the show that you bought a high priced ticket to before they try and rush you back in to the gambling arena.

Speaking of casino shows, looks like Brian and Al will be playing at the Seneca Allegany Casino in Salamanca, NY (a bit south of Buffalo, near the PA border) on Saturday October 10th.

Are you referring to your age? I can't speak for all venues but I saw them at Mohegan Sun in CT and took my 14 year old son. The rule is that minors couldn't walk on the casino floor though.

Yeah, although I have been to some casinos where my parents took me to shows. But it seems like the ones that the Beach Boys go to around my area are 21+.

That said, my dad and I are going to a Mike+Bruce show in Canada later this summer. Yay legal age!

Don’t know if we’ll have to start a new “Late Summer/Fall Tour” thread after the last “Summer” shows this week, but it looks like we’ve got a third Brian show for September/October. It’s October 23 in Easton, PA. The schedule so far:

September 11 - Davies Symphony Hall - San Francisco, CA
October 10 - Seneca Allegany Events Center - Salamanca, NY
October 23 – State Theatre – Easton, PA
